Had anyone gone stripper fishing and what kind of bait do you use ?

Hello Cabrales2, I live in the North East. In early spring like end of April early May I have fun with schoolies Stripers 18-26 inches on sandworms. Once June hits I use live eels and bunker chunks. Freelining eels is a blast and 20-30 lb stripers hit them hard. You might even nail a 50+ especially at night. Striper59.

I like to fish the outgoing tide. Bait fish come in with the tide and hence the go out with the tide. Striped bass and fluke will be waiting to ambush your offering.

I use an egg weight and swivel and a circle hook. Dead smelly minnows and chicken livers soaked in milk do the trick for me. living in CT. channel cats were first stocked in 2009 but the current state record is 29 lbs so 10 lb plus are quite common. I HAVE ALSO USED NO WEIGHT AT ALL, JUST LIKE carp fishing. Carp get no respect. Try tangling with a 25-30 lb carp and you will be hooked. Chum the area with corn wait a hour or so, come back and load a # 4 circle hook with corn or your favorite bait. Try mixing cream corn, peanut butter, strawberry jello mix and oatmeal, refigerate and make little round balls!

I live in CT. but did some saltwater fishing in Quincy Bay. I believe you might still be able to rent a skiff. Back in the day the flounder fishing was unbelievable but fishing pressure but a damper on the species. Over fishing , trawlers coming into the bay at night and poor water quality caused it's downfall. Proper DEEP rules and regulations has made it possible for the flounder to rebound, but the days of filling a garbage pail are over. Using a fly rod,, try striped bass, June is a great month! Schoolies are really active and the big boys are 25-40 lbers are very possible. Try a night trip on a local party boat- live eels or chunks are the norm and many 50 lb plus are caught especially the full moon. Local sreams have all been restocked since opening day just find a local tackle shop for hotspots.

I have a local pond ( CT. ) and a small lake in upstate NY. I mainly use 9 inch Mann's Grape Jelly Worms. I have caught 5 bass over 5 lbs including the 6 lb plus a dozen or so over 4 lbs. The over sized pond is also loaded with big pickerel and water snakes. I had cleaned a largemouth and it's stomach contained cray fish and 3 small water snakes so they readily will engulf a Mann'a Jelly worm. I also had luck with yellow skirted spinner baits and rapalas.
