I went there today and picked up the motors. We talked about harvesting maple sap for syrup, the weather, and the upcoming summer season. I wrote him a check and was on my way! Another chapter written in the story of my life. Focusing on what really matters. Built a rack to hold them upright until I decide what to do. Thank you all for your advice! Appreciated!

Thank you gentlemen for your quick reply’s! As a retired carpet layer, I have little to no knowledge of anything mechanical. It was kind of a sticker shock to see the repair ticket! If I deduct the cost of the used gas tank he bought, puts the repairs an approximately $300 apiece which isn’t awful but still money I don’t have laying around.
Again, thanks for your advice. I will work it out! Steve

Reaching out for some advice. I came into possession of 3 “vintage” outboard motors from the late FIL’s barn.
One is a mid 70’s 6.6 hp Johnson, 2nd is a late 60’s 5.5 Johnson, the 3rd is a 20hp Evinrude of unknown year.
I brought them to a local auto/ marine shop last fall with a request for an “exam” and his opinion on repairability. He said it would be a winter project. I’ve used these guys before and have been satisfied with the work they’ve done.
As I hadn’t heard from him, I swung in when I was in the area, just to see. Much to my shock, his employee, when I asked about the motors, brought out the repair slip for all 3 motors, totaling over a thousand dollars!!! He had never called, and we had definitely discussed that I didn’t want to spend a ton on repairing 40-50 year old motors.
Looking for your thoughts on how to move forward, or congratulate him on “his” new motors!

Awesome catch. Where did you go in at and how thick was the ice? Planning a trip out there soon. Hope the ice stays good.

Lake Mary, Alexandria, Mn saw all the wheel houses pulled this past weekend. Still some 4 wheelers pulling out portables as of today ( the 31st). A few walkers and bucket sitters but definitely not normal for Jan 31. Make sure to use your absolute best judgement when going out, your loved ones will thank you for it!

Trucks are even worse and somewhat can understand getting up there to clean them is no easy task. However, how many sheets of ice through a wind shield does it take for the driver to understand he is liable?

Absolutely right Bob, driving down the freeway and it starts peeling off the roof of a delivery truck and you have no where to go! Yikes!

We’ve had below zero temps the last few days which has helped improve ice depth. Here on Lake Mary we had a couple 4 wheelers pull out a couple wheel houses but they pulled them early afternoon. No matter where you go, it’s your job to check conditions!!

Mr rheatown, I followed up with , it was probably less than a hundred. I dug deeper. Georgia, the former guy said 5000 dead people v**ed. Upon audit, it was 4! Maricopa county, Arizona, after the Cyber Ninja audit, it was 1. Many of the issues were that the people v**ed absentee, but subsequently died before the e******n! It has been debunked that there was no rampant v***r f***d, anywhere that would have changed the result of the e******n! DJT lost, Joe Biden won! Can’t we just move on to something that is beneficial to the citizens of America

Blinders. Ok an investigation t***spired in Oregon. 10 mail in b****ts were found to be fraudulent out of 2 million b****ts. By the way a Republican female was caught in Oregon fraudulently v****g at a polling station as a Volunteer. Guess which way she was v****g? It wasn’t mail in b****ts. It was at a polling station. She is in Prison now. So when some of you falsely claim it only the mail in system that can be fraudulent you’re dead wrong as usual. The people that get caught doing illegal things have consequences. Even if they were a President. Any questionable mail in b****ts during the verification process are investigated. Don’t expect everyone to believe your f**e claims about mail in b****ts.

I was incorrect regarding my saying “ probably less than 100”, but in doing a Quick Look into it, the number is very small as I was suggesting. The former president claimed 5000, when the number was 4. Maricopa County, Arizona, after the Cyber Ninja audit the number came back as 1. And so on! An irrelevant number in relation to the millions of v**es cast

I can understand troops and very few others out of the country getting mail in b****ts if they’re checked but every body else needs to show up in person with an id if you can’t get to the poll you shouldn’t need to v**e you can go to grocery store ,gas station, dr office, or anywhere else you want to go if it’s not important enough to you to drive a couple miles then your opinion must not matter to you and I’m not saying that because one man said something it’s been going on for years that would cut down on a whole lot of fraud definitely no dead people v****g or the states like yours that had more v**es counted than registered v**ers
I can understand troops and very few others out of... (show quote)

You are sucked into all the BS! Nationwide there is probably less than a hundred dead people v****g! About driving to v**e, how many people in senior centers don’t drive!! But if I drive them there I’m b****t harvesting!! But their opinion doesn’t count! There is no fraud that has had any impact on any e******n! But you are planning on using that same excuse in December of 24 when the Orange Julius loses again!

Thanks for all the compliments on the half fillet of walleye. Somewhere earlier I mentioned that this was oven baked, or as some would call it oven fried. Thomas, I'm not Catholic so Friday fish fry for Lent doesn't do anything for me, so we have fish for the main dish as often as we can. And when it comes to walleye, I prefer baking it over frying. It's to easy to over cook it when frying. The fryer is used for crappie, large mouth bass and white bass.
If you ice fish, be careful and save some fish for us who have to wait for open water. And if you are in the neighborhood stop by and we'll share a meal with you.
Thanks for all the compliments on the half fillet ... (show quote)

I definitely don’t want to be misunderstood, I’m not catholic either, it’s just a thing in our neck of the woods. The VFW, the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club, etc. they all have the fish fry on Fridays during lent. Probably started as a Catholic thing but not so much anymore, it has been commercialized just like Christmas

My first taste was at a very exquisite restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. I was so excited to finally enjoy my first walleye after hearing for years about how good it is. When it was served I dug right in and bla. It was very over cooked and dry as a dessert. Mine is oven baked, but once and awhile I will fry it.
Find and enjoy more of it Bob.

Don’t know if you have fish fry’s in Nebraska like we have in Minnesota and Wisconsin, like Fridays during Lent.
Gotta find one that’s serving walleye verses Cod. Yummy! As I just can’t catch the darn things, I look forward to Lent😁😁

First question, who’s they?
Second question, are all those crippled folks only from one party?
Are all those men and women in the armed forces from one party?
Are all those contractors working overseas for our country from one party?

Have had v****g by mail and absentee for a long time without game changing issues until one particular guy said it was corrupt, now it’s a crisis!
