Only Oregonians call them Chinook. Every one else calls them Kings... Personally, I like Black Mouths; the easiest way to identify them. Salmon fishing in July will probably be best on the ocean or near Bonneville Dam on the Columbia. There will be spring fish in the rivers but it will be the end of the run. There is a Summer run of typically big fish called June Hogs. They stack up at Bonneville Dam and are fished for with heavy weight spinners, spoons and bobber/egg rigs. Downstream from water falls and inland dams are good places to fish for salmon in Oregon.
