Back from CDA. Fished hard 4 straight mornings before the heat, smoke, and power pigs scared us off the lake. We had one, and only one strike, and my wife landed a 18 lb Chinook. I had two goals: have my wife catch a nice fish, and learn how to catch lake Chinooks. CDA has been slow. They just had their annual tourney and many fishers caught nothing in 3 days. We saw no fish landed at all, except ours. Was told that the fishing has been funny this year. No small fish are being caught and there is worry about next years fishery. I saw tons of fish on my Garmin but could not get their attention trying everything, speed, depth, lures, herring, and the secret Crest toothpaste (thanks for the tip.) I am going to use my new skills to fish local Chinooks.

I will be fishing CDA for a week in the beginning of August. We have a guide for the first day then on our own for the rest of the trip. We would really like to learn how to catch Chinook Salmon. Hopefully by the end of the week we will have learned enough to catch them. Wish me luck.

Looking forward to Tuesday. We are heading to the Snake for a day of Sturgeon fishing. I have been saving Kokanee heads for bait. Hopefully the heat won’t get to us. We will be on the water by 5:30 and bringing swimming suits. Have a new Weber BBQ to break in. Hopefully the big boys will want to come out any play.

Just got a reservation for August 1st-6th. Staying a Cour D Alene lake and fishing for Chinook Salmon. Really excited to spend time learning the lake and HOPEFULLY catching some nice fish. Anyone with suggestions and fishing secrete, please chime in. Pictures to come.

I’ll be interested in hearing the reply. Many lakes are going to wait till fall cool down for the good fishing to return. I’m planning a trip up there (from Star Idaho) in October. There is a Chinook Salmon derby on Cour D Alene on 7/25ish so fishing must be decent then??

No. I had it installed when I purchased the boat however, it is an easy install for those with the aptitude. I have installed marine electronics before and this would have been the easiest install. The dealer would not negotiate on the price of the boat so I had him install electronics, downriggers, and anchor nest. Made my life easier.

I have on and love it. For the price, with transducer, and a 9” screen, I would do it again. Good side view. Good mapping. It was around $1000. Maybe mine is the 93. Here is the manual for it.

My experience is fishing Lucky Peak and ANDERSON Ranch, and CJ Strike for Kokanee Salmon. Fishing the Snake River upstream of CJ Strike for Sturgeon. On my todo list is Cour D Alene and Pend Orielle for Chinook and Kokanee this August and September. My immediate targets are Chinook on Lucky Peak and Sturgeon on the Snake River. Being recently retired, I only fish during the week, saving the weekends for the working guys/gals.

Great looking catch. We live in Star and are looking forward to a trip to Cascade to escape the heat. Fished Lucky Peak Tuesday and did better than most. 5 Kokanee and a rainbow but we worked real hard. (Pictures to follow.) Maybe you can give me some tips before we head out.

Going to be focused on Sturgeon in the Snake until we can’t take the heat anymore.

I just ordered a cover today. It is a real well made and expensive cover and will handle the riggers of wind and travel. I am going to leave it on. Tired of cleaning to bugs off the windows and front of the boat. The dust and dirt from construction is awful. Security for my gear will improve. Glad to hear about the gas mileage improvement. I had not thought about that.
