It’s funny you say that F F . I can remember coming home from work and taking my new tackle I just bought to the boat then go on inside and let the wife know I was home. Alls good, untill
One day while fishing with the wife she lost the (last chrome and blue rattle trap) in the middle of catching schooling white bass. I offered to give her mine then she smiled and said are you sure there is not one in one of those bags you have been putting in the boat? BUSTED
😂

I feel for you
I have had it happen twice,
What I had to do to get my fair shake was to go to the highest priced tackle store in town to get the prices. I made a list like strike king 1.5 three or four colors , Jack hammer chatter baits 2 or three in favorite color and a couple more in other colors and so on
They will depreciate all of it so you have to get it priced to help compensate, you are going to have to spend that money plus tax and personal time to replace it all.
Although you may enjoy the time in the tackle store with the new money
Good luck and don’t let a sorry S O B ruin your fishing.

The only way I have ever been able to avoid line twist on my spinning reels was to trade them for bait casters
Also discovered a whole new kind of rats nest ( pardon me professional over run) to deal with🙃🙃
Keep your lines tight and your worries light.

Saw a video on these once and they would go down the river and shoot em with shotguns, with no other boaters around. Sounds like fun and get to brush up on skeet shooting

Yea I get it Skeeter boat owners Bass champs this weekend 3 days 1900
Fishermen
I think a 9.5 is leading at least today.
These bass here know every lure known to man and know what the click of a transducer is, very educated, but they love to school and gang up so there like rutting bucks then, stupid sets in and they just slay anything, other wise it can get to be a real grind

I got bit by the saltwater bug and bought a bay boat
Went to Calcaseiu lake Louisiana for Memorial day and hammered the reds and specks.
I still have my bass boat that stays on Fork
The problem with Fork is Tournaments
Every weekend the lake can have numerous turnys on it and it is covered up with fishermen. A lot of them host 500 or more boats
So have to pick and choose fishing time there, but yes fish has been pretty good, no giants for me yet this year
A 6 or 7 here and there but nothing to write home about

I used to live on Conroe on the north end in a area they call lake Renea and lake Paula by Stowaway marina.
Conroe is a good fishing lake,if you know how to fish it.
One issue with Conroe is with all the home owners that live on the water, the lake is almost 100 percent bulk headed
So if the wind is up it gets rough like being in a soup bowl no where for the waves to die out just keep bouncing around the lake. Don’t let that discourage you there are a lot of quality bass to be caught there. With this lake being just out of Houston there are a lot of weekend wake boarders and jet skiers, cigarette boats all over the South end. In my opinion stay North
National forest area, 7 coves ,Walden
And Corinthian point also Loch Ness area that’s by Stowaway marina my best areas there were national forest
Lochness and seven coves
Good luck and catch a Texas Giant to show them boys in Cali
There has been a lot of rain lately so keep an eye out for water clarity
It’s normally generally clear
I used to wear them out on red shad u tail worms and crank baits.

Sounds like you are getting some good advise
One of the cool things about fishing the gulf is everything eats everything.
Meaning it’s not expensive to fish with bait.
I have found that the sand trout and croaker are real easy to catch on cut bait, usually piggy perch, which you can catch on almost any bait. They are good tableware and I don’t believe either one has a limit.
I have found some Awsome piers to fish from Aransas to Rockport to Polacios , nights like late night always best for me specks and sand trout on swim tails glo at nights
Best piers are found in close proximity of the main channel
Good luck

I used to fish with those when I was a kid, on vacation in Big Sandy Tennessee. Those things were the best thing ever for bream, next to the end of the bologna roll the meat cutter would give use kids to fish with. We would buy those at the 5 and 10 cent store
They came on a paper card could get several colors and it came in a popper or a plain I have no idea the name or brand
Thanks for the memory rush
That was in the mid and late 60’s

What’s up David
I just happen to live on Lake Fork
Right now the backs of the creeks are pretty stained
The fishing report says they are deep,
The guides aren’t talking and the truth is they are moving into shallow water
North banks with wood 1 to 4 ft with access to deeper water lean towards chartreuse curl tail ( mister twister style) no heavier than 1/8 ounce jig head 8 lb line biggest
I live in little caney creek
Hope this helps , never a mistake to have minnows just in case
Keep your line tight
And your troubles light
