No I haven’t, but have eaten garfish. Thanks for the recipe; I’ll try it if I ever catch one.
I heard that bowfin puts up a big fight so it would be a challenge for myself to hook one.
Thanks for your advice. I tried fishing them in a small bayou using worms and shrimp but no bite at all.
Has anyone fished for bowfin before? If so, what kind of bait did you use and what type of line and size hook?
Size 10 hook is what I used a couple weeks ago and it worked just fine

I’m just starting getting into fishing and was wondering how to determine what type of bait to use both artificial and live. I’ve only have been fishing in fresh water; mainly for rainbow trout and catfish in a stocked pond. 3 trips and still no fish.
