My first shore catch this year was a skate (as usual). No, the picture is not of the skate, but of the deeply depressing trail in the sand my other pole made on its way to the deep blue, assumably attached to what I will always claim to be the biggest fish anyone has ever caught. My story gets a little more unbelievable as I was reeling in my last line an hour later, contemplating stopping to rob a bank on the way home so I could purchase a new rod and reel, when I noticed an extra line wrapped around my rig. Yes! I caught my own rod! Was it possible that the monster was still attached? I slowly reeled in the line with baited breath, but, Sadly no. But I did get my rig back, although in dire need of a good cleaning and lubrication. This battle will resume as I work my way up and down the Delaware shore, this was at Key Box on sand fleas. I will update when I catch him.
