I drove around the Fremont State Park, outside of Fremont, Ne. It shows to have 17 different lakes within its boarders.
My question is this, who has fished any of the lakes and which ones should I not waist my time on.
Retired and can go during the week, when traffic is down.
P.S. beautiful park

Elkhorn, Ne.
I made my first fishing trip to Louisville State Park and found it under heavy renovation.
New dock, sidewalks and other major projects.
Fishing may be difficult, with the equipment around but should be beautiful, once done.

This was tragic but one point no one has brought up, is the lack of protection around the bridge pears. I spend the winter in Destin. fl and on the bay side, all the bridges have, what I describe as bumper.
This channel has very large barge traffic and these would prevent this type of accident.
Not an engineer but common sense??
What bothers me, is the commercials put on by the APCA. I feel for all these lost animals but the truth is, this organization takes your money , pays their CEO a Great salary and then they kill about 920,000 dogs and cats a year.
My local veterinarian advised me to just give to your local shelter, not a killing corporation.
I’m in Eastern Nebraska. The water is low , temps are high. Nothing more to be said.
I’m no fishing expert but I do enjoy the quiet moments or even the occasional fisherman next to me.
It was a week day and I had a few hours to burn and went down the local lake, near my home. I planted myself on a dock, No one else around and zoned out.
It was 20 minutes and a couple of fishing buddies and their $50,000 BaseBoat put into the lake. I can only dream of such things. LOL
The dock I was on , is 100 feet from the boat slip, with this said, these two buddies pulled up next to the dock to fish, more drinking and laughing, than fishing.
Then to top off my day, a gentleman and his retriever stopped next to the dock ,so he could throw a plastic duck in the water, for his dog to retrieve. I had to pull my two Cat Fish lines in, so as not to snag the dog.
Needless to say, my fishing had come to an end.
Don’t worry, I went home and took my Model T out for a spin.
I enjoyed reading it BOTH times. LOL
Sorry, my photo didn’t come across.
Hope to repeat this again. LOL
Beautiful day, decided to try Memphis Lake, near Ashland Nebraska. My beautiful wife came along, for moral support. I needed it, wasn’t skunked but almost.
After a hard day at work, all I wanted to do was watch the news on TV before dinner. My son, 3 years old old at the time, was bugging me about a smell on his finger. He kept putting his finger in my face, asking what does this smell like.
I kept pushing him away, asking to just watch the news. After a few minutes, a commercial came on and I asked him to let me smell, after guessing wrong a few times, I asked were his finger had been, his reply, up my butt.
Kids, never stop surprising you.
Bob, the other lakes I like to fish near me are:
Lawrence Youngman. They have a nice dock and the shore fishing is OK. Nice boat ramp. The fish do run a little small.
Zorinsky Lake, nice lake for a variety of fish. Nice boat ramp and a great dock. Cat fish off the dock and near the dam.
The park service cuts nice paths to the shore line, for the parts I fish.
Prairie View, as I stated is a nice lake and the rock jetty is nice to get out from the shore line. The fish are on the smaller size, the grass gets heavy and a boat is helpful.
Standing Bear, I have fished it a few times but nothing outstanding. I was told cars have been broken into, on a regular basis.
Lake McConaughy, Ogallala, is a far trip west but I was in the area last fall and the water very low , don’t wast your time.
Two Rivers, Waterloo is a great place to fish. From Trout to Catfish. You can fish the various lakes or fish the Elkhorn river.
To finish, I’m new to fishing, just third season. These are the lakes I fish daily.
Just came back from Florida, spent most of the winter saltwater fishing.

I have but it’s better on a boat. The sea grass gets deep by Spring. Even in a boat, the fish are not very big.
