Iโm not from that area, is that a major route for that area? They mentioned that there were construction going on the bridge.

It's part of the Baltimore beltway, so yes. This also blocks the ship traffic to/from the port of Baltimore.

Wow that is terrible. Both shipping and auto traffic. They are saying that there are cars in the water that they are diving to, looking for people. I canโt imagine going through something like that.

Thanks DC, I got more info from this video than from Fox or our local station.
First off, where were the tugs? Any ship that enters our harbor has two to eight escort tugs 10,000+ HP each. This was avoidable. Lives were lost, Put a price on that. $5000/hr/tug is a small price to pay for SOLAS> Safety Of Life At Sea. #1PILOT, #2MASTER, #3CHIEF ENG, #4 1ST MATE/ANCHOR DETAIL AT FAULT. #6 UNKOWN
1. DID NOT HAVE ESCORT TUGS ESCORT
2. SHOULD HAVE MADE PILOT ORDER TUGS/DEADWEIGHT RATIO
3. LOST ENGINE?- PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, LOW DAY TANK?
1-2-4-5. SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANCHORING 1-2 SHOTS OF CHAIN AT FIRST LOSS OF POWER.
6. SABATOGE?

In this followup video to the one above, the narrator mentions the tugs assisted the ship from the port onto the channel then disengaged.

I am wondering if the ship has a hole in it after running up on the concrete support for the girder section it knocked out.

Most likely. Say, haven't you fished that section of the Patapsco from your kayak in the (recent?) past?

Audigger fishes that area from shore more than I have been there. Butch and I fished there 1 time.
Actually it is maybe a mile from where I launch at Solley Cove park. I get off the last exit before going over that bridge to get to Solley's.

Oh yeah, just south of the Coast Guard station you like to fish around. No doubt that section of Curtis Creek is off limits today.

Probably will be for awhile.
Just think how much worse it could have been.
I couple more hrs n the bridge would have been full of traffic.
Governor said bridge was FULLY up to code n passed it last inspection.
It was in FAIR CONDITION.
All the traffic it gets it should have been in great shape.
Wonder how many freighters are still in port?.
Then all that are waiting to enter ๐
