Hi fellas,
My name is Lee and I am an avid fisherman in the finger lakes region of New York. I was wondering if anyone on here has had any luck jigging for walleyes thru the ice. I would like to know depths, jigging technique and lure selection+ colors. Any info will be helpful. I look forward to hearing from you

Hi Lee. I'm from nw iowa. I love walleye fishing all year. To find fish I focus on structure, points, rock piles, weed edges. Most lakes are one here are less than 25 ft deep. Later ice if you know where they spawn find structure near deeper water close to there spawning grounds. Good luck and happy fishing

When fishing the dams here in Nw iowa I would leave a foot tag end off of a 1/8th Oz jig and tie a floating jig head on behind it. Another of success that way. I would use a twister on the jig head and a minnow on the floater.

I really don't get how people can be so selfish to ruin others time. I've had my share of bad experiences fishing. Had a lot of great times as well. Just gotta learn who you can take and not take. Most of the time it is my son and I. He started deer hunting last year. Love that too. But we get quality time and we learn from each other. We get pretty competitive but at the end of the day it is all fun and a relaxing time. I guess I'm lucky to have a great son as a few on here never got that chance. One thing you guys could do is take one of the neighbors boys fishing. It's not the same but a great experience all the same. Good luck everyone and enjoy your time.

My son and I took a day out and had a blast. Wading through waist deep water(not much of that though) mostly knee deep. Caught 1 cat fish, 4 walleyes and 18 small mouth. Of course my son Caught the biggest. Lol

We are visiting family and my son wants to find some bass while in Georgia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We will have to shore fish as we left the boat at home. Thanks everyone

When my family visits my wife's family would be interested in fishing up there if things ever work out. I love fishing and meeting new people.

I live in nw iowa. Have family in winder ga. Love fishing walleye. Find structure and use electronics to locate fish. In the spring find shallow sandy rocky bottom. I use jigs tiped with a minnow or crawler alot or a slip bobber with minnow, crawler or leach is a great tactic. If there is a big flat you can troll. I use night crawler harness on a bottom bouncer or troll with crank baits as well.
As far as rods for trolling I use medium heavy with 15 lbs mono. I use the same polls river fishing too. Braid line is stronger and lets crank baits dive deeper. Walleye can be very finicky and a tough bite sometimes. Just be patient and try different things. It will pay off in the long run. Best of luck.

My wife has ms as well. She likes to go along but most of the time can't stay out long. We take cooling towels to help a bit but still not all day. It is dun to take her. Just wish she could go more often.
