I’ve had the same penn reels since the early 90s, my rods I fix multiple times if needed before buying a new one. Terminal tackle I get off Amazon.

Sounds like the majority was a great day,Stumpknocker. Get your motor problems straightened out asap as it's a bad time of year to get stranded. Being a good dad is more important than pictures.

Yea the engine is gonna be a possible issue ongoing, it’s an old gal. I’m saving up to get a new Suzuki 4 stroke and my problems will go away

Oh boy last fishing day of the year I’m so glad to see in the rear view. Today my daughter and I left from the edgewater boat ramp around 10 am fishing the outgoing tide. We got a few dozen live shrimp, they were unbelievably small, I would be embarrassed to sell those to anyone, bait shops need to do better, but I digress. Water was cloudy 68 degrees. My daughter and I decided to head over to fish Calissa Creek (spelling) we worked our way from the south mouth working north. I normally use my trolling motor going with the tide, however I don’t have a troller on my new boat yet. Working our way north we hit some scalloped shore lines as well as where smaller creek fingers feed into the main creek. My daughter was fishing the shrimp while I was throwing that same Uv color paddle tail jig.. on shrimp she caught a few sheepshead, some grunts, and a bunch of sailors choice.. on the jig I got back into some bigger lady fish ( over 20 inch) a baby snook and a few slot trout ( 2 days from now they would have been dinner) we then ran into engine problems (the old late 60s model sportwin is temperamental at times, upgrade is coming fast ) and has to limp back to the ramp.. All In all it was another fun day though looks like I’ll be purchasing a new prop. No pics today as I was more focused on teaching my daughter how to cast a spinning reel and how to be a fishing partner on the boat, she is doing a fabulous job.. I’ll catch you all next time, tight lines untill I post again

Cool, that is one heavy boat. I had a 1970 14' fiberglass criss craft with a 9 hp Yamaha. Boat did me well for many years.

It’s not terribly heavy the9.5 will get her on plane but top speed is like 12-13 mph.. I’m looking for a 20 hp and that will be perfect. But yes it’s super heavy compared to tge modern micro skiffs out there

My thoughts, for what they are worth is that the first picture is a trout but the other two are ladyfish or skipjack.

I stated in my post I caught 20 lady fish in 2 hours... I also stated I caught a few undersized trout... thought I was pretty detailed In my post

Today I hit the back waters in port orange fl. Bait shop was out of shrimp, Mullet, mud minnows etc, all they had was sand fleas so I decided to go all artificial today. Water temp was a cool 66-70 degrees fairly clear with a tannic hue. I ran about 2 miles towards the inlet and then disappeared into the mangrove marsh.. tide was outgoing and wind was steady out of the north. I tried some drift fishing of the leeward side of the islands and had no luck. So I decided to stay further off the bank and let the wind help me cast right off the mangroves. Boom a little undersized trout. I dropped my mushroom anchor there . The bottom was a hard shell bottom and there was a fair amount of oyster beds in the general vicinity. After anchoring I hooked on to a few more undersized trout. After the second trout I changed over to my Light action rig and never put that down the rest of the day. For the trout I used a steady retrieve with a slight upward bump every 3 rotations. I then changed my retrieve to a slow methodical retrieve with a aggressive jerk every 3-5 seconds. This retrieve got the bait lower in the water column and boom lady fish. I went on to catch about 20 lady fish the next 2 hours all on light action.. what a fun mid day trip.. below I will post a few fish pics from today
