That's correct Phil, most hour meters are connected to the ignition switch, if the key is in the "run " position, the meter is running, even if the engine is not! Modern computer diagnostics can tell you the history of the motor, abused,or babied, overheated,etc. They can do the same in your car, so don't try to BS the service Tech at the Dealership.LOL :-)
I'm one of those techs. When I showed a very angry chief of police that one of his cruisers was shutting off at 123 MPH not at the 75 like the officer said it was our conversation was over. I'm pretty sure the chief had another different type of conversation with the officer.
