That Channahon park is not bad. I had the same experience a few years back. Never fished there in December or January

30 years ago I used to fish the DuPage. Caught some nice bass one outing and my son caught a bullhead in excess of two pounds. Don't know what it's like now.

Some of the forest preserve lakes along southwest highway in Palos aren't bad. Had success in the past with crappie at Tampier.

I travel downstate to Rend Lake for Crappie. Minnows are what they seem to like the best but also caught some on red worms. Lots of locals just use tube jigs. Some days they hit red or pink sometimes blue has a higher success.
