Those carp aren’t good eating Ranger but they are fun to catch. Looks like some nice trout though

You just have to know how to cook carps. Right cooked carp (like gefilte fish) is delicious.
Search the Internet for recipes. In the some European countries Carp served on Christmas or New Year like main dish.

I have been fishing with my USGX2 for a couple of months now, I catch crappie, bass, catfish and Bluegill where I’m at. All in I spent around $50. So what’s a good setup that’s an upgrade to this? Say if the GX2 is a 4 on a scale of 1-10, what’s a 5? I usually shop at Academy or Bass Pro. I’d be willing to buy online but I am really anxious about the pole being broken in the mail. I really don’t have any problems with it so far, and it works great, I’m just looking to buy something better for ~$100 or so?

For species you are fishing US is too good! I have several of them and no one never fail. I'm fishing for salmon, strieped bass, halibut, trout, large mouse bass, carp, sharks and never ever replace US for more expencive toys... Ispite of my arsenal: Lamiglass, Seeker, Fenwick, Shimano, Abu Garcia. The most lucky my rod is the old Big Fish by Pinnacle, which I've bought loooong time ago on sale when K-Mart went out of business... It is still great for any fish. My advise is: spend money for something else like good reels.

Liders for trailing hook for halibut fishing. Pass them trough swimbait body to tail.
Another - hooks leaders on the feeder for carp. They are soft, have vegy color and do not spook the carp.

May be yours friend snicky using some attractances... I have that kind of "friend" which never share his "secrets".
Try to vary your retrieving - speed, dept, twitching etc. It is not too smart to repeat same things with same result...
Learn to "read water": where better chances to find fish. Talk to and watch another successful fishermen.

Flounder grow to 20lbs or so, Halibut grow to 500lbs or so. In the Atlantic anyway.

Do not mix Alaskian halibut (to 500lbs and more) with Californian hali - much smaller!
Flounder like warm water and not visiting San Francisco aquatoria. Halibut - YES!
