As far as I am concerned there is but one response to your use of the word Christmas, and you said it! Merry!!
Just a request, in light of your generosity, I thought I would ask fellow stage people to help me find a motor for my boat. Don't get me wrong here I am perfectly willing to pay for it, I just want to find one I can count on that will run. I have a 90 hp Johnson that has low compression and will not stay running. It is too big and heavy anyway, I would like to find a 50 -70 hp with controls that runs well. I live in Manteca and am willing to travel. My son and I are preachers and fishing is the only time we get to unwind, we built up and old Tri-hull and it is nice but needs to be powered. Obviously we are not rich being in the ministry but will go the going rate , just want to get a good one and not waste our money. If you have any help please let me know, Thanks. Bye the way Steve that is a very cool thing you are doing!!

Thanks for the advice and the encouragement! Can't hurt to give it a try. If you here of a good running motor that is being sold by a person you feel is reputable please let me know as I would really like to get into a four stroke. %0-75 hp.

So I took an old tri-hull and restored it completely with all new interior and the top of the line trolling motor and fish finder ect, and after a couple of times on the water the motor gave us fits. So we did what I should have done in the beginning a compression test, BOOOO! So does anyone know someone around the Stockton area that would rebuild a 90 hp Johnson v4 ? Or anyone who has a outboard for sale cheap that actually runs. 40 HP UP.

Just got back from two days renting cabins at McSwain, fished from 3am to 10 pm and all day the next day 5 fisherman using everything on the menu you can name. Fish jumping all over the place and nothing!! At the end of the day the third day caught a spotted trout with a lure. That was it! Not happy

The past three weekends I've been out bank fishing in the same spot. I've also encountered a few trolling boats that seem to get a little too close to me. Close enough that I'm uncomfortable casting as it would be really close to their boat.

I guess this is just more of a rant but I wish that these guys in the bass boats would keep their distance from me. Instead I watch them cast in to the same area I'm fishing like 30 feet from me on their way through.

For context: I fish on a sandbar so I'm not really on the bank. I'm quite a few feet out into the water. There are no trees around me so I'm clearly visible from a good distance.

The past three weekends I've been out bank fishing... (show quote)

You could do what I did cast across their lines and foul them up, that makes them made but makes a good point, or what I did when a couple of guys kept doing that over and over. I tied on a 1/2 ounce Kastmaster and placed it right in the middle of their boat, popped it out and told them the next one was going to be at their head!

I have been fishing for over 40 years and I was taught 30 years ago that if you gut catch a fish you are not wanting to eat just snip off the line right as far in the mouth as possible and release. The acids in the fish will dissolve the hook in no time.

Yeah we were reading some of the stuff on the net that said they planted 16000 pounds of trout since Oct. the lady at the counter where you pay said they stocked a 1000 pounds that day. We used everything that bass pro has to sell. I have never seen a self respecting trout that would pass up a old night crawler! I agree with the no pay sentiment. This is the first time I broke down and paid to fish outside of the launch fees.
O well, back to hunting linesides!!

We went to lake Amador Ca today fished all day not a bite one! Finally at dusk my friend caught a wayward bass. There is supposed to be 1000's of pounds trout planted in this lake, we didn't see hardly one breaking the surface and out of many many fisherman only 4 fish caught. Bad Day? They have their own hatchery so I am not buying the whole 1000's of pounds deal. Very expensive to use the lake so I will not be going back. My two cents!
Not offence intended.

I don't suppose you would care to share what lures you were trolling with.
