Sounds like a strap-on milking stool that I used when milking cows back in the 80s.
Welcome Dave - I am from upstate NY too (Fulton County). We have had good luck in Cazenovia Lake. If you go there check out Meir's creek brew pup.
Welcome to the forum Bozzie. I am another upstate New Yorker. (Fulton County) We have fished the Sacandaga but never on the ice. Good luck.

Spirit - If you do make it there I highly recommend going to Fort Ticonderoga - especially if you can time it when they are doing a reenactment.
Hi Tim - Welcome.
It's nice to see another person from the Northeast. I am also from upstate New York. (Southern Adirondack park) We are in a good spot - close to the Mohawk River, West Canada creek and not too bad of a hike to Lake Ontario.
Hi Nick - Welcome My wife was born in Stamford and I was born in Norwalk. We have lived in upstate NY (southern Adirondack Park) for almost 40 years. Sorry we can't be of help. Happy fishing.
David - I have been looking at the posts on this site for quite a while but just registered so I can reply to yours. I fished quit a bit as a kid. I hadn't done any serious fishing since then- until I retired last year. I basically have forgotten everything I knew! My wife and I have gone fishing (not catching) a number of times. I live in Fulton County - next to you. We fished the Mohawk at Fort Hunter, no luck but it is a beautiful spot.
