Yeah the fishing can definitely be hit or miss especially when we’re getting rain. The outlets definitely have some big fish and a great variety if you can be there at the right time.

That’s a nice fish. I caught some real nice walleye on some split crank baits last year out of the outlets.

If you know of any ponds that need some fish cleaned out let me know I’d love to help get rid of them. I was asking around if anyone knows private ponds I could fish. I live in Topeka. I love to take my dogs out to the lake and let them run but people seem to be everywhere and some complain and I hate leashing them.

I seen a couple fishing from the marina and never seen them catch anything. I was at melvern last week and fished from shore and caught a nice mess of crappie. I was using live minnows with a bobber and small split shot below the bobber. Worked out great when they decided to hit.

I appreciate all the replies. I have been to all of the lakes locally and abroad. I agree the state lake would be a good place. Hopefully the wind will be in our favor.

Does anyone know of any private lakes or ponds that I could possibly put a couple kayaks in and fish? I will have my father in town for the week and I just purchased a couple of kayaks and would like to show him a good time. I’m located in Topeka Kansas but I’d be willing to travel if needed.

I appreciate the response I am overjoyed with all the information and choices. I’ve caught almost all these species of fish and enjoyed them all. I look forward to getting out and catching some fish. I’ll be sure to keep posting updates and pictures.

Just moved to Topeka Kansas and was hoping to Learn some good areas and what’s a good setup fishing from shore for the time being after the winter freeze. I enjoy both river and lake fishing.
