Meet Huey
Wife saw a Facebook thing last night someone looking for a home for this little guy
Story is , this lady is driving her daughter to school one morning this week. Still dark and saw this dog walking down the middle of the street.
She stopped and the dog sat down and just looked at her
She opened the car door and he jumped in and made himself comfy

She took him to a vet and they scanned for his chip. Sure enough , vet gave the lady the owners contact info
She called and apparently the owners were in the middle of a bad split and neither wanted the dog.
So he was basically just roaming around till this nice lady stopped and helped him out.

Picked him up today. He’s very mellow, well behaved and responds immediately to come ,stay, sit, lay down don’t know what else he knows yet , but he seems to listen to what your telling him
Little sweetie.
I think we will be buddies

It seems like a lot of fish records are being broken this year, with a variety of species! It's a good thing we are doing our part to keep a line wet...you never know when the next record sized fish is awaiting your arrival so they get a chance to visit the scales and give a wink to the weighmaster!

Yeah there must be a reason for all the records. Is it global warming or covid? LOL

When I was a teenager I played a heck of a harmonica.
Played around the house and with friends and even played at church when a bluegrass Family played before Sunday service.

Had a high school home EC project with a guy named Willie Ruggles.
We had to go to the local Kroger’s and prep a meal plan for a week for a family of 4.
We did pretty good
Needed some time to put our report together. He invited me to his place to write the report and told me to bring my harmonica.
Well this dude lived way up a holler.
Anyone from Appalachia knows what a holler is.
Those that don’t, it’s a very rural community in a valley between 2 or 3 mountains .
In the sticks where your nearest neighbor is a mile away.

Anyway . We finished the report and it was time to play.
Guy had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. ( pretty ones) and cousins and uncles who all played bluegrass.

They started picking and I got to join right in.
Even let me play a solo spot.
These folks invited me back to dinner a few times and we all played some pretty impressive music.a lot of them were extremely talented.

Kinda miss that kinda stuff 10 people crowded around a small room with booze and smoke around , kids playing on the yard and porch with moms chasing them and old folks just taking it all in

Every time I’m at a fair or hear good bluegrass on the radio , I listen. Wife don’t get it at all
But it brings back memories

I’m hooking smaller fish (.5 lbs) and at least 6 or 7 of them have gotten off in the last couple days. Using a medium fast action dobyns fury spinning rod. I have my rod pointed high for sensitivity and then pull back and try to keep pressure while reeling when I feel a bite. Most of them have jumped and shaken me off. Is it my technique or rod or the smaller fish that the Ned rig is catching?

I never caught a fish that small using a ned rig. It's possible that fish I lost were too small for the bait. Who knows. It's easy to say but try catching bigger fish.

I added a 12 lb mono leader with a Albright knot To my braid. I left my tag end a little long and tied a 1/32 jig to it along with a 5/16 jig to the bottom this worked great far less tangles than a barrel swivel and the tag end seams just as strong as the main line. Caught a few doubles.

I have thought about doing something like that.... Glad to see you had success.

The fishing was not great, but my Wife caught her first LM on Thursday at about noon on a chunk of night crawler suspended below a slip bobber. 19.5” and just over 6# per the LxLxG/1200 DNR formula

Nice bass! I know that was fun.

The following is a no S#!t story of the absolute worst storm I have ever experienced while fishing.
Bear with me , I’m trying to set the stage here

About 34 years ago I was stationed in north eastern Arkansas
I had assembled a pretty decent 12 ft John boat with a 6 horse evinrude that ran like a top and a 26 pound thrust minn Kota up front.
This boat put me on more fish than my new Lund bass boat.
Took that thing everywhere.

Well one day I was out with my buddy Brian who I went to basic training with like 5 years before
We weee on a corps of engineers built impoundment about 3000 acres of flooded cypress forest and lowlands.

We had caught a few early, but it was so hot , the fish just wouldn’t chase a moving bait .
So we went back overt the long stretch of cypress and lay downs with mixed grass pocketswe had just fished. . Dead calm

Tied on T rigged 6 inch black Mann’s Jelly worms ( still love em) and flipped all structure we came upon. Really worked it.
Started getting bit. Had a few keepers then my buddy brought my attention to the western sky

We talked about leaving but I made a command decision. 15 more minutes.

One of the top 3 bad decisions of my life and the only one that didn’t involve her having my last name.

That storm moved faster than I could ever have imagined.
It didn’t start light then intensify . It immediately started pouring the likes I’d never seen. Ever .
Wind picked up wicked.
Here we are in a 12 ft John boat 2 1/2 miles from the ramp
We were headed in and I couldn’t see any landmarks my guess should be 100 yards away
My buddy is using the battery lid to frantically bail water .
I remember I had a cheapi compass in my box. Pulled it out and sure enough we got turned around.
Pointed the boat the way we needed to go and hoping to hell the compass wasn’t lying to me.

Buddy was praying out loud and I was praying in my head.

We finally caught a glimpse of the ramp after almost passing it.
Beached the boat and just sat there for a minute trying to get the trembling down.

There were others at the ramp. Some almost loaded , some not.

Women and kids crying , people scrambling to move their trucks closer

The most scared I’ve ever been and I’ve seen some wild S#!t

Heard on radio after it died down we had a tornado 10 miles to the west and missed us by a mile and a half
3.25 inches of rain in an hour.

Buddy always seemed to have something going on every time I wanted to go fishing.
Huuuuh . Wonder why
The following is a no S#!t story of the absolute w... (show quote)

I was just talking to a friend about starting to act my age now.... Just saying.

Use wacky rigs 95% of the time I am bass fishing, and am tired of paying $3 for a pack of 12 yum dingers. Any of you guys know where the cheapest place online to buy a couple hundred senkos in a variety of colors is? I tried Amazon, Aliexpress, etc with no luck so far.
