We Pulled about 25 bass from the shallows near Windy Hill this past weekend. Mostly 1.5-2lbs and a few 3lb+ largemouth. Water was 70 degrees however the winds got to 8-12 mph and stifled the bite. The evening bite was good also after the winds subsided back to 4-6 mph. Had success with an unweighted senko and also a 3” blue belly crank bait. Not great but not bad either!
Crank bait. He also has had great luck at Roosevelt last weekend. Caught 22 largemouth bass on crank bait. He also used a ned rig with a weed protector in the tall grass in the back of the coves. Said the water was 74 in the shallows.
The bite is slowing as the water is cooling. 2 weeks ago the bite was excellent. My fishing partner caught almost 30 bass in the morning. He found success using a top water. Top water, grubs and drop shots were working Saturday 9/17 however the toal catch was 12. We were kayak fishing braided lines and mono leaders.
