It is a chub minnow type fish that have high rich fat content like a Kokanee and the Browns would get fat and huge on them

I have issues with ca fish n game biologists making the decision to put lake trout aka mackinaw aka char aka slime rockets in Bear River res, silver lake and caples lake highway 88 lakes. They said too many tui chubs taking over the lakes 😳 what heck well now those fantastic trophy German Brown trout have dwindled horribly

Back coves where deep water comes up to shallow. Use your locator look for stumps in the coves. I like to look for suspended crappie in the mouths of the cove in deeper water. Troll the coves too weewart crank bait or roadrunners chartreuse, or pink have worked well for me.

I went couple weeks ago limited out pretty quick on rainbows ford fender 1/2 threaded night crawler. Right down middle lake about 50 yards from the rope line of the dam headed south of the lake close shore, turned around went back up to the ropes. Did that about 3 times. Don’t go on weekends it can be a zoo. Especially next weekend weather going be back in low 90s
Fish were all kinds of scattered depth just keep your offering between 20’ to 40’ few more coder weeks lake will turn over a little bit more

Tasty fish saw, good job, I would launch my boat Kennedy park where I was supt Napa golf course years ago. I would start trolling hair raisers at Napa pipe against the tide and I would catch sturgeon on the troll.

Use to be great German Brown fishing both those lakes until fish n game screwed that up by introducing slime rockets aka lake trout aka mackinaw aka char. They wiped out the tui chub Browns lost their main forage. FYI big fine using live minnows in those lakes.

Hi ranger, can you still fish off the exchequer bridge? Bridge over Lake McSwain. I think it’s called exchequer bridge. I know the dams called exchequer it’s the main road.
