My Alaskan fishing buddies and I stayed at one of their cabins in Lincoln and then drove up to Silver Lake and Bear River Reservoir to do some trout fishing these lat few days. Beautiful weather, beautiful scenery but fishing was a bust. Found out from another angler that live minnows as bait under a bobber was what worked vs. the worms/marshmallow or power bait or casting lures. Oh well, it was a great time with friends and that really was my main goal, so goal achieved for me!
Silver lake at the ramp, everyone but me had kayaks
Bear River Reservoir from the bank I was fishing
Bear River gorge from the dam.
The guys struggling from the weight of their stringer 😂
The cabin neighbors

Beautiful place Denny. It's not always about the fish, but they don't hurt.
Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely gorgeous scenery. No fish is a minor inconvenience. We’re those lakes in Ca.
Or Alaska?

Didn’t think of that Steve, but not sure my back would agree to being in a kayak for hours anyway. Thanks for the thought!

Thanks Iroll, they’re in Ca. Off 88, there were fish but you either had to troll at 30’ or have live bait.

Use to be great German Brown fishing both those lakes until fish n game screwed that up by introducing slime rockets aka lake trout aka mackinaw aka char. They wiped out the tui chub Browns lost their main forage. FYI big fine using live minnows in those lakes.
Nice pictures
That's a beautiful spot!!!
