Don’t know about prices or availability. I doubt that leeches would be a good choice on Crane this time of year. With water temps this cold leeches will have a tendency to “ball-up” on the hook, instead of flowing naturally and swimming. As far as DC leeches go; keep in mind it took a lot of “suckers” to
put them there!

Kinhod, Never fished either of the Cutfoots, that said…; I have fished Winnie, Bowstring, and BallClub, none through the ice but for walleyes and pike those and others in that area are excellent. See where the locals are fishing, keep a respectable distance and start drilling!

Best bet check MNDNR lake finder you’ll find all the info you’re looking for on Titlow and thousands of other lakes.

Can’t say much about the river; but I did have a memorable trip to Black Bay opening weekend some years back. The main lake still had lots of ice, not unusual; but Black Bay had warmed to perfection. We caught—-well the best crappie fishin’ I’ve ever had! Most were in the 14” to 16” category and were released. had to work to get enough smaller ones for a meal. Also picked-up some nice pound and a half to two lb male walleyes. Had a great couple days!

Haven’t fished LacQuie Parle. But an excellent choice to consider would be Big Stone. Excellent multi-species that should be really turning on late May. A bonus is that with a good size group accommodations shouldn’t be a problem. Stretch a string!

New to this forum.Any info about Crane Lake area as we’re planning a fishing trip next spring
Thanks in advance

I can supply some input. I have fished Crane, it’s a typical shield lake a little over 3,000 acres. Plenty of rock and well structured. Good walleyes, plenty of smb, crappies and pike with trophy potential. Houseboat rental is available and if you’ve never done it…We’ll, it can be a real blast. Enjoy!

SPENT 3 HRS ON PIERZ FISH LAKE. CAUGHT ONE THROW BACK SM BASS. GOT READY TO LEAVE AND HUSBAND AND WIFE DROVE UP. NOW MIND YOU STOOD ON THE SAME DOCK AND BOTH CAUGHT BASS ON ABOUT THE THIRD CAST. WHAT A PAST TIME HUH. BUT WAS ABLE TO SEE THEIR BAIT AND SLIP BOBBER SET UP SOOOO NEXT TIME MAYBE THINGS WILL CHANGE. I LOVE THIS GAME
Tell ya what…that’s why it’s called, “fishin’ not catching”. If you caught a limit of wall hangers every time out, it’d get boring and nobody would do it. It’s all about the challenge. You need the bad days.——-that’s what makes the good ones that much sweeter! So good luck to ya and may you have more good than not so good.

My partner is a bass fisher, preferably smallmouth. Having problems finding them in most of the lakes around Nevis, MN.
This is our first summer season here since retirement.
We are mostly on Crow Wing lakes, Croiked lakes and Big Sand.
I would appreciate any information on summer fishing, different from what he’s used to in the spring when he used to come up.

Crow Wing county, can’t be too far from Mille Lacs a wonderful lake for smallies.

Lots of us “Minnies” here. Need some answers? Ask someone will respond. Personally, I have fished over 150 lakes here. Mostly metro and north of Mille Lacs.

I have. Just seeing if anyone has any good tips!

If I had to pick one; out of several I know of, it would be Elephant Lake in St. Louis cty., about 17 miles north and east of Orr. It’s smallish, less than 800 acres, with a good resort and plenty of walleyes and good size crap’s. Check it out!
