Very good read J.D. I hope things work out for you. He's worth a lot of money. At least you got Chris Godwin for a few more years.

Well Jason Licht got all the important ones under contract. Must admit, didn't think he could. Thanks again for the interest. take care Gordon

Maybe they need to give Kyle a chance. Most passing yard QB in Gainesville. Thats something to think about. I'm still not a Baker fan.

i fish for food and down here they would skin you alive if they knew you didn't put it back. LOL. just kidding. i don't really have a answer. Salt water is a lot closer. Only 4 miles to the boat ramp

Then again, you're in SC, so it's not like it is here in FL, there are bodies of fresh water everywhere. I've been up in a plane and seen certain areas around Central Fl. that look like theres more water than land. Seriously. You have a good one G, JD

Great story JD. The fish in the pic was 37 inches. Didn't get a weight on it . To big to keep so I let him swim away. Largest LMB was 8.5 lbs. Don't fish for them anymore. Do you keep doing articles during the off season??

I do, I'm laying low at the moment, but should be something up there in the next week or so. Why did you stop fishing for LMB? just focus on the ocean fish?

You didn't bore me. Id like to hear that story also. Pm it to me or post it here.

Is that a Redfish you are holding in that picture Gordon? With my eyes it's hard to tell. Besides Big Bass, that's my favorite to fish and catch. Dad used to take me to Everglades City with a guide he knew back before there were so many limits and all. We loaded up on Reds and Snook.

Sean Tucker out of Syracuse signed as an undrafted free agent. Teams backed off of him after it was revealed that he had a heart condition. Next paragraph is a go over of all he did at Syracuse (not my writing)

Career Overview: One of the top players in the nation during his career, earning First Team All-America honors in 2021 and was a mult-time All-ACC selection ... Shattered Syracuse single-season rushing record (1,496) in 2021 ... Was a two-time member of the Maxwell and Doak Walker Award Watch Lists ... Was near or atop the national rushing and all-purpose yard lists for the entirety of the 2021 season, culminating in multiple All-America honors ... Concluded his collegiate career (three seasons) at third on Syracuse’s career rushing record list (3,182) ... First player in program history to post back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and 250 receiving yards ... One of only four players in program history across the 3,000 yards threshold ... Owns two of the 12-best single-season rushing totals in program history ... Finished his career third in school history with 96.4 rushing yards per game, which is tied for 14th in ACC history and sixth-highest total since 2000 ... His 27 rushing touchdowns ends his Orange career ranked seventh in school history ... Had 64 career receptions, which is third in program history among running backs and his 622 career receiving yards ranks fourth ... Has the second-most 100 yard rushing games in program history (17) ... His 3,704 career all purpose yards is seventh in program history and ranks second to only Joe Morris in most yards from scrimmage ... 5.40 career yards per carry is sixth in school history ... Was an immediate impact freshman who put together one of the best rookie campaigns in program history ... Had the third-most yards (626) and second-most yards per game (69.9) by a Syracuse freshman in program history in 2020 ... Has the third-most yards by a freshman and junior in program history and owns the record for most yards by a sophomore ... Career stats include 3,182 yards on 589 carries with 27 rushing touchdowns, plus 64 receptions for 622 yards and four touchdowns through the air in just 33 collegiate games ... 64 catches is third in program history ... 622 yards ranks fourth ... Declared for the NFL Draft at the conclusion of the 2022 regular season.

So he signs with Tampa and he looked good in camp, and pre-season he turned a few heads. just before the season started he was given the RB2 spot behind White, which demoted KeShawn Vaughn falling down the depth chart. In the first 3 games of the regular season, he carried the ball just 5 times, was then demoted, put on the bench for the rest of the season. He never saw the ball again. This while Vaughn was averaging 1.8 yards a carry in his absence. I don't know what the story is, I haven't heard anything about why he was stuffed on the bench. Just seems to me when you have a guy with that kind of skill set, you play him, and then you play him some more, and then again you play him. Until he proves to you that he sucks and won't make it in the NFL. The running game was an issue for us for at least 9 or 10 games in before White started to find his way. And, they never went back to the kid. That's it, it's all I got on that. If you look back about 5 to 10 stories from a current one you will find a story i did on Trask, and Tucker, such a waste of talent. well that's all I got, lol.

How big was that fish in the pic? what's the biggest Largemouth you ever landed?

Thanks for the reply J.D. That's a job that takes a lot of your time. I read some of your articles and appreciate you giving me the web site. I'm been a Dolphin fan sense 1966 but enjoy reading anything Football. Look forward to reading yours for the remainder of this year. Might learn something. How do you like Baker Mayfield??

Baker Mayfield, hmmmm. I like him, he's got tons of heart, and he's tough as nails. He's flawed though to a degree, only time will tell if he has been able to move past his problems. He has received tons of awards and everyone is acting like he's the second coming of Fran Tarkenton. He won one more game than he lost, maybe that's an improvement for him, but not so smitten as most are with him, I need to see more. It's hard for me to move past the way that they handled Kyle Trask this season. They took him with a second round pick, and stated the plan was for him to sit behind Brady and learn from the best, then take over when Brady left. In his first two camps and pre-seasons he was so so, nothing to get real excited about. That's when Bowles and Jason Licht (GM) completely lost faith in him. Whatever positive things they saw in him that caused them to draft him they completely forgot about. They basically just threw him away like he wasn't even there anymore. That's when they did the unprofessional thing and went out and got Baker Mayfield. I maintain that they promised the job to him upon signing. Then they stooped very, very, low and announced to the World that there would be a competition between the two. Then something amazing happened. Kyle Trask found his groove and played well in camp, while Mayfield threw 7 interceptions. The entire pre-season Mayfield threw 15 or 16 passes, that's it! Trask threw 58 times and won two games. does that sound like a competition? Trask won the "competition", Bowles started freaking out and ended the so called competition one game early naming Mayfield the season starter. Bowles didn't want Trask showing out in the last game of pre-season and further showing he should be the man. Trask went out and won that game as well. Bowles is no head coach in my book. The Bucs don't know how to develop young talent. If they aren't really good right away, they are forgotten. I made a prediction when they drafted Trask, that he would leave Tampa when his contract was up. Never having started a regular season game. Barring injury, that prediction is solid as concrete. The way that it should have been handled was Trask should have been named the regular season starter. If it didn't work out, they could have then brought in Mayfield and they wouldn't have had to lie about it. No loyalty to a player they drafted and believed in, and had been there two years already. They went out and signed a three time reject to take his rightful place. If I was Kyle Trask I'd leave Tampa like I owed the local Mafia money when his contract is up after next season. The NFL hasn't heard the last from him, he will go elsewhere and do well I believe. If i didn't bore you to death I got another story about a rookie who runs a 4.3 40 like your Dolphins Achane. Is the single season rushing champ of the Big East conf. and was a first team All American. good stuff. Have a fantastic day sir. take care, J.D

I know that practice makes perfect, so to speak. But I've always wondered exactly what it is that makes some people so damn good at catching Large Bass to very large ones in such a consistent way? I'm consider myself pretty darn good at it, at least among your average weekend warriors. I find one of my strengths is placement. I can usually tell the best spots to drop the lure (cast to), and place the boat.

A good friend of mine is lights out though, I can be struggling, and he is pulling them in left and right, and big ones too. He enters many tournaments, every week during season. He says he doesn't know what it is, he says practice. But it's more than that. Is it presentation, as well as being able to tell the subtle difference between a fish and a weed, stick, rock, what have you? What makes some naturals, and others have to work hard for it?

Anybody have any insight into this? being that both are using same bait, and same area? Every week he's hoisting bass up for pictures that go 6-12 lbs consistently.

Thanks guys, and gals.

Do you just not like LMB fishing, or geography is wrong for them where you are. I know this, I've fished for quite a few game fish in my years, and Bucketmouths rank right up there with the top 3, lol big fun!!

I love Bass fishing, I'm in the Disney World of Bass fishing, Central Fl. I do more Bass fishing than anything else by far. I don't usually use shiners/live bait as a rule. When I go speck fishing and I go by the bait shop, I'll get a half pound of large minnows, and I usually get half a dozen shiners as well, I'll set out half a dozen poles with minnows, and then I'll throw a shiner off to the side. just to see what's up. lol I generally use artificials for LMB/Black Bass. Nothing better. take care.

Where you been hiding Fish. Haven't seen you in awhile. How's your fishing been going?

I don't get to come on here as much as I'd like. I write for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers website that keeps me pretty busy. Don't get to fish as much as I'd like either.

Got a question for you, all things being as equal as possible, What do you think it is that makes one man a weekend warrior on the lake, and another so good that they can go pro, or is just the guy that fishes a lot and is the one catching fish every time while others on the same boat, or area are skimping to catch a keeper? Is it presentation, patience, being able to tell the subtle difference in a fish and a weed etc. Some folks are just born fishermen, what's the difference. I'm somewhere in between the two, certainly not pro material, but among the normal fishermen, I'm pretty darn good.???????????????????? Thanks brother, and slay em.

You mix it in any liquid FFM, or just the powder?

No I don't do the liquid in with the lure in the bag. If I have some liquid to use I spray it on, or dip it just before casting. putting liquid in there with it in the bag would probably lead to some nasty shxx. I'm thinking. lol
