Super Bowl Sunday from a Marine Corps Colonel in Afghanistan: "So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten - straight up, no styling "Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world. Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 96-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars, and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love - not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup, and your entourage. Sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you. And please not everything needs to be spunked up! We’re getting a little weary of that. Francis Scott Key does not need any help." Semper Fi

I agree wholeheartedly!! Thank you for
Speaking up

Retired several times in the past 20 years. Self employed all but 12 years. Small Engine shop finally retired for good 3 years ago as I can’t raise my right arm and it has really limited me physically. Still have customers come by
Help them when I can. Mostly advice or
assist them if possible. Get out on the water at least once a week. Gonna be stuck at home for a few weeks for a knee replacement. Hope to be on the water again by November for some late season bass and pike fishing. Serve in the Army 59 - 62. I thank God daily for my health and being able to do what I can do. Have 6 children and 27 grand & great grandchildren. Love life and hope to make it to 100. God willing

Would you like to mention what branch of the military and when you served?

Many of us have kept in touch with other service members in one form or another. Therefore, I am going to keep a tally of what branch and service time and post it at a later time. You just may see that someone served at the same time and branch as you.

If you were unable to serve in the respect of wearing a uniform, but yet served with support please let us know.

You need to pal up with a friend and get a little bit of help and advice. It’s all very simple once you get the gist of it. =Jeffchow88]Several things - you could have too much line on your reel. (Take off 10-30’)
The line is too heavy for your reel. (Strip and put on lighter line)
The line is twisted on your spool. (Take off all the line on your reel by laying it on a football/soccer field or park and reel back on. Having it trail behind a boat is ideal.[/quote]
