You really poked a righteous hornets nest here.
You said”don’t get mad...be honest”.
If you get a chance chase down an Oio (Bone Fish) in the sand flats on Kauai with a fly rig. It’s pretty damn fun. Yet no more fun than coaxing a beautiful brown out from under a cut in the bank on the Owens River.
I don’t think it’s jelly that guides a fisherman. Always looking for another way to feed the love of the life.
Then again I was on a halibut trip last year with my wife. Six fishermen aboard. All had fun but one. My wife caught the first halibut, the most halibut and the biggest halibut. All with a conventional real. This other fisherman was using an electric real so...no muscle cost in bringing in his fish. The 30 mile back to the harbor that poor guy was just staring with such jealousy at my wife’s Beautiful monster halibut. (Even though a nice 32lb fish is Much better eating than a 73 pounder when it comes to Wa Halibut) He wasn’t loving the life.

Nice casting tip.
Where are you fishing in this video?

You Boys got some nice catches.
You where very patient with ALL the “advice”, offered. Yet not a single piece of usable information regarding your post.
As far as the Torpedoing Cats, I can offer two tricks. Put a good size obstruction(cinder blocks work good) far enough in the opening to let the Cat in. But centered on the opening so the Cat does not have a straight shot out the hole. This slows them down.
Take extra blocks when checking tubs. Place blocks around opening allowing enough working room. This creates a good bottle neck that you can use to your advantage.

The threat of snappers is always an issue. I have looked into gloves. Maybe in your area there is a regulation concerning safety gloves. If not I found a great pair of stainless steel mesh gloves on sale for 50 bucks.
Lastly, by incorporating obstacles in your den you have created a false sense of security for the Cat. This will give you a chance to poke a stick in and feel for Cat or Snapper. More times than not the Cat will stay put. Feeling secure behind the illusion you created for him.
Have fun. keep sending those wild shots and a story or two about the crazy ones that got away.
