I wouldn't hesitate as long as it's South of Denver. There are Two wastewater treatment plants that dump into the Platt in Denver. The largest is Metro which discharges over 17 million gallons per day. They say it's clean enough to drink but I'll give that a pass.

I stayed until 3:00 and caught one 15" and one 17" rainbow. I had one hit that cut the braided line clean as soon as I tried setting the hook, so who knows what that was - maybe a pike?? Overall the fishing was good but not excellent like the sites were saying.

The fishing calendar says Saturday will be "Excellent". I have found this to be relatively accurate, or maybe it's just a placebo to make me try harder...

I wish some of that would rub off on mine.

Crawlers and spinners worked a couple of weeks ago but last Saturday it was dead. I only caught one big sucker.

I wanted to report back from the 11 mile trip. I caught 4 strong fat rainbows in the 21" range but only landed one. Two broke the 6lb leader I was using and one got the sinker wedged around a rock and broke off. All of these fish stripped line off at will with multiple runs and showed no sign of tiring. Three hit crawlers and the one I landed was on a pike colored 1/4oz Castmaster. The boat rental fell through due to a mix-up, but shore fishing was great. Thanks for the recommendation.

I decided to try 11 Mile and rented a boat for 4 hours. Any advice? I don't care it it's pike or Trout. I'm thinking jointed rapalla, spoons or kastmasters.

Is the Colorado River at state Bridge open to the public or private property? I have never been to Stage Coach Res. Any advice on how to fish it?

Is there somewhere in the mountains with a mile or two hike that I will have a decent chance to catch fish? Scenery with changing aspens would be a bonus since this is September. I have had pathetic luck fishing this summer and haven't yet started fly fishing. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I'm located in the Denver area and not afraid to drive.

Hello. Has anyone or you know of anyone who’s has fished at Sloans lake in the last 3 months? My fishing buddy and myself are llanto go fishing next Saturday. Also, this is probably a long shot, are there places that will teach you how to fish. We are having no luck. None. All the places we have been to, we see the fish, the jump out of the water to greet us, 😂 we can’t attract them. We use worms, these pink shrimp ball(?) and these other ones that are bright colors. We have lures (not sure how to use them) and smelly garlic and another smelly one. I’m ready to give up. Thanks for all advice.

Front Range fishing it tough. I haven't caught a fish this summer but I know others are having luck. I haven't tried fly fishing but it's on my list of things to learn. If the fish are jumping or swirling on the surface, they are feeding on insects, not worms. If you find somebody offering free or inexpensive lessons, please post here for the rest of us beginners.

I tried the Eagle River just outside Gypsum last weekend to no avail. I tried spinners, crawlers and flies with no luck whatsoever - not even a bite.
