I got this limit yesterday after work on the falling tide in Mobile Bay. Caught 4 slot reds and 9-10 specks too, but let them go. I don't usually keep them unless I want one to cook for supper. Was using a hot pink gulp.

I noticed the same thing, but continue to fish alone unless the wife gets up from her beauty rest and comes with me. In either case I took care of the problem with a custom made ladder. We have a guy at work that fabricates on the side. This is the result and it is fantastic. Material cost in todays market is $300.

You are not far from the Gulf State Park Pier if you like saltwater fishing. If freshwater, you will need a boat to explore the Mobile River Delta.

Took #1 Brother in Law fishing on Saturday and gave him the 20 on the table. We let the small ones go that didn't swallow the hook. On the way home talking to the wife she wanted fish, so I had to volunteer to go back on Sunday after the 6 am mass and get some more. Kept just enough for supper. Caught them all at Deadlake. Fished until the dummy gate got left open and the a**holes in their gulf boats got out, some of them kicking a 3' wake in an eight foot deep creek.

Guntersville has a lot of rental cabins. We stay in one near the dam. It sleeps 5 and has a boat dock. There is also a hotel right on the water at the intersection of Hwy’s 431 and 79. The cabin we stay in is on VERBO it’s located on fisher hollow road. Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks, will check out the cabin.

Bass fishing is good today on Lake Guntersville.

Thinking of going to Guntersville for a 4-5 days in September. Any recommendations on a nice place to stay on the water with a private dock?

Thanks,

I can remember, (and have pic's of that lake somewhere) when I was a teenager. Before they built the Dolly Parton bridge you could see down 15' to the bottom. Not anymore.

Small world. I was talking to a lady in Mt Vernon the other day and her and husband had it for a while. She fished it everyday.

I remember my father talking about the kitchen stove when he was a child. His mother was Creek Indian and died young. His father was a moonshiner and blew himself up one night checking his gas tank with a match. Anyway he was raised by grandparents that would literally beat him to a pulp if he let the fire go out during the night. They also stole his land. Samford University in B'Ham Al stands on the property today, along with the family cemetery. So sad the way things used to be done.

I got these Monday. Used 100 crickets, these are the ones I kept. For size comparison this is a 48 qt chest. Did basically the same thing on Saturday, but let them go.

Down here we call them "Silver Eels". The smaller ones 12" or so are great trolling or drift bait for Wahoo and King Mackerel.
