Thanks gla. I’ve fished for pikeminnow on the Snake below Lower Granite dam at Boyer park. I know there’s a ton of blue and channel cats there. That’s about 150 miles from me but, definitely, great cat fishing June through September. I’m about 100 miles from Lewiston Idaho so I’ll give the Snake a try down there before long. Thanks again
The 1/2 ounce Kastmaster in gold with blue and pink center stripe with black dots is my go-to for steelhead on the Big Salmon and Little Salmon rivers in Idaho 👍
So sad that people, now days, are so connected to their electronics they’ll die for them. I rarely take my phone out of the truck when I’m fishing or hunting or anything for that matter. Lots to be missed in life being glued to a screen. My wife can’t move without a phone in her hand and everything these days revolves around social media. Drives me crazy. My condolences to the poor sole’s family here☹️
Thanks fly guy. I’ve fished Oregon and Washington waters for years and thought I had it figured out. Whole new world here in Idaho.
Panther Martin or Jake’s spinners. Panther Martin in a yellow body with red dots and a gold blade. Jake’s only comes in gold and silver with red dots but they are both trout hammers.
For all fish in general or just specifics? I swear by “Jakes and Panther Martin” for the trout family.
I forgot to mention I’m using 10’6” heavy rods with bait casting reels. That probably makes a big difference but I doubled my casting distance. You should be able to as well.
Have you tried practicing a pendulum cast method? Release about 3 feet of line and get you’re lure to swing in an arc and release at the top of your swing. It’s a little tricky to master but I long cast small lures for northern pike minnow and this approach doubles my casting distance without adding more weight or reducing my line size. Just a thought. I cast a 1/4 ounce jig with 20 pound braid and a 12 pound leader a LONG ways. Several hundred feet on the Columbia and Snake rivers.
I’ve, actually, caught steelhead near shore rock fishing off the Oregon coast in the late fall. Up to 4 miles off shore. They were incidental catch situations and released back into the ocean. Never caught one very far out.
Hi everyone. I’m looking for some good catfishing in Idaho in the winter
I’m looking for info on winter catfishing in Idaho. I live in Pollock, about 12 miles south of Riggins.
