Thank you for the update, plum. I'm sure some of you guys realize what plum does for the FS. What he does for the FS is unbelievable, and it is for the betterment of the members and also the Forum. He is one of the key men in this membership but there are many others, too many to begin to name. Randy Hardford is another one, who's name needs to be mentioned. These two guys keep this wheel turning. Thank you very much for all that you have done, fellas

I second that. Thank you Plum and Randy for all you do. Also thank you Fly, Bb, Bf RJS, GHaynes and the many others who post and make great additions to this forum on a regular basis. I am new, have posted couple times. And will add more when time allows and I have something to contribute. Thank you again

But are you using a spinning or bait casting reel? I believe a youngster starting out on a bait casting reel would have problems with line that thin! Just Sayin...RJS

Rober, thanks for the advice. We'll go with a spinning reel. Haven't seen many posts from you lately. I really enjoy your stories. Have you been busy writing? Hope you are doing well

You guys and gals have so much knowledge and experience, thought you could help. Looking at a Lew's Xfinity IM7 rod and XSH30
reel combo from Walmart for my 15 year old grandson. Will be fishing for trout and bass.
Plan on putting 10# braid on it. Any thoughts or opinions good or bad would be appreciated
Or maybe better suggestions. Thanks!

Nice fish Rome. Glad to know they're in our area. Waiting for party boats to start striper and bluefish fishing. How was fluke fishing?
Good luck, tight lines

Went on the Mijoy out of Niantic, sure you know it Fred. Caught bunch of porgies, released most but kept a few for grandma to fry. Want to go again when boat starts sailing again. Want to let grandson try the "stripper"
fishies, they will give him a good fight.

Good morning. Been reading fs for 2-3 months but finally registered. Love the great info and jokes. Almost feels like I know some of you guys. I've been fishing since I was a kid but dont have as much time as i would like.
All my fishing has been salt water. Everything from flounder to bluefish and "strippers" to shark and tuna. Some of the shark and tuna was tournament fishing. No boat for shark anymore and live an hour from salt water so now will try fresh water with my grandson. Will be asking for tips as I start to try for trough and bass
