So then it is a weight and feel thing. Along with a little visual preference thrown in for good measure. Makes sense to me now.
Good point. I hadn't even considered it not going all the way through. Thank you.
That is what I have too. I love the ugly stick. I did a little more research on line and it seems to be a feel thing for people fishing with lures. I just don't like the looks of them.
Hello, I am trying to figure out why some rods have two cork handles with a space between them all below the reel. What is the purpose? Is it a balance or feel thing? Or are the just saving money on materials? Just curious. Thanks for your enlightenment in advance.
Enjoy!
Hi I am a newbie. What is with the split cork handle one the rod? Is that for another kind d of reel?
Thanks.
That is great advise thank you. You sound like an awesome grandpa!
I think you made the right decision. Good for you. We actually went out today for a bit didn't really catch anything. It was very crowded for my taste. So we found a nice quiet park and practiced casting in the stream. It turn out to be a great outing and we are looking forward to next weekend.
Trout and 6 years old. I credit reading this site and YouTube not to mention talking with a couple guys at work. Maybe beginners luck? You mean it isn't always like this? Haha
Perfect, that is my plan. I am looking forward to some good days ahead.
That is great advise. Thank you very much. We always enjoy throwing rocks in the water together. I am sure there will be a lot of that too. Enjoy grandpa.
Hello everyone. I stumbled across this site while camping about a month ago. I haven't fished in many years. I have a 6 year old grandson that comes camping with us and he said " grandpa we should go fishing". Well no self respecting grandpa can say no to that! The last time I went trout fishing was probably in the 1970s with my dad. I am 58 now and my dad has gone on. So last week I went out and picked up a couple of cheap pole and reel combos and a little but of tackle brought it home and told my son about it. The first words out of his mouth were " you are planning a big family fishing trip and only bought 2 poles?" So needless to say we now have three poles in hope's that some day soon they will all be used. Last weekend didn't work out and this weekend didn't workout either however, I went by myself for the first time in my life and caught my limit in 3 hours and met some nice people fishing next to me. In a couple of weeks we are heading camping again and maybe then I can teach my grandson to fish. Until then I will call my outings research. I am enjoying reading all of your posts and learning a lot about something I haven't done in a long time. I am having fun going through dad's old fishing stuff and picking up a little tackle here and there. Watching a lot of YouTube videos on what to do. Anyway thanks for listening. enjoy your weekends and don't let work get in the way!
