Curious what peoples favorite striper lures are for the spring/fall runs. Usually fish Cape cod and spring fish seem picky, fall fish migration seem easy. What is the first lure you're throwing?

When do you replace a fishing rod that has no apparent wear or damage? Say a reel breaks on a mid-grade fishing rod, and you aren’t sure whether it deserves a new reel.

I’m in need of a good pair of fishing sunglasses but cant shell out $200+ for costas. Im looking for more around the $100 range. These would mainly be used for steelhead fishing where glare reflecting off snow is a factor. Please let me know if you know of any good pairs that allow you see through the water. Thanks!

Howdy everybody. I want to take my fishing experience to the next level, and finally be the proud owner of a new or pre loved fishing vessel. I have a good chunk of change ready for good deals that might cross my path in the next few months for a boat. However, I have no experience with kayak fishing. I grew up in Jon boats, that's what I know best and the most comfortable in. I want to chase big flathead in larger water systems and some bigger lakes, and I'm curious whether a kayak would be appropriate for it or not. I have enough space at home to store either, obviously a kayak would store more comfortably tho. I already own a truck, but have no dock of my own to leave the boat at. Would have to drop every trip. To get to certain spots I would have to cover quite a bit of water, several miles potentially (round trip) in moderate flow areas.

I've seen kayak catfishing on YouTube and pondered whether or not one of those nicer trolling motor kayaks would be better than a Jon boat overall, as I could probably get out on the water faster and with less hassle. Thing is kayaks are kinda a one person deal, so bringing friends out without their own kayak is out. My other bigger problem, however, is figuring out if I could actually bring the equipment I need, travel several miles out, and catch and land large fish safely. I fish two rods, bring live bait and also carry a heavy tackle box. The box could be sorted into just essentials but would still have a little heft to it. The lake system I like to fish is popular, plenty of boaters and of course some are jerks. So safety from others is also a concern. What do you guys think? Yay for kayak fishing or go the more traditional route?

So as of right now I've been using just 15 lb mono line on my 7' rod for intercostal fishing and its been working good, would i need to get leader line? And if so how much stronger line should I get if I do decide

2nd question is that I'm planning on getting a surf rod and was wondering what type of line # should I get and what material (braid, mono, fluro) I've only used mono

If some one wants to explain the different types of material line and leader line and how they work that would be awesome !

Simple question. Does Cabela's ever put baitcaster reels on sale? If so, do you know when?

Is it possible to catch bluegills and other sunfish at night? It’s been really temperate here in central texas and the bluegills are biting during the day. Would love to keep catching them at night

I’m a pretty new so I’ve been using hot dogs to hook most of my gills, but I have lures and plastics at my disposal. Would love some night fishing tips!

Thank you !

Im in the market for a fish finder, but this being my first, I have no idea what to look for. I fish out of a canoe and plan to get into ice fishing so my research has been telling me the Garmin striker 4 is the best bet with the portable kit.

I’d really like to get the vivid though since it’s not much more than the striker but there doesn’t seem to be a portable kit deal with it.

Is it worth it just to pay the extra for the vivid or would the striker 4 be sufficient for my needs?

So i have a baitcaster combo that says the limit of poundage for line is 12 pounds, but if I put 50 pound braid which is like the same size and width as 8 pound, would it still affect performance?
