What an awesome beautiful fall day up in the mountains on a Lake James North Carolina * My buddy Rick and I went all over that lake dragging live bait trying to find fish that were up and feeding... finally found a point with some activity * The smallmouth were finicky, usually nothing can resist hitting these 4” shiners... got some decent 3-4 lb smallmouth... but the fish of the day was this monster Perch that hit that bait and pull down that rod 1/2 way in the lake... PS sorry no PIXS of the 3 or 4 “whiskered” smallmouth Bass...

Who makes the pork rinds?

Sabrintos... I got them at Quick Trip there's a picture of them up there below the fish in the dash of the boat, they are really really good!

Last minute trip at LKN * Took an hour and 1/2 to find fish… then kaboom kaboom kaboom repeat… Dan caught the biggest one of the day. The beverages were cold, the jerky was fresh and these chili & lime pork rinds are my new go to chip.

Tough fishing at Lake Murray yesterday even with pulling live bait on planer boards and until about 10AM it was as cold as a witches tit, frustrating cause we saw tons and ton of baitfish all over the place all morning - see screens...

It’s been too hot for the afternoon bite at LKN * We marked lots of fish between Channel Marker D12 & D10 in 20-30 feet of water… the fish that were biting were deep. Oh… the beverages were ice cold, the beef jerky was a good batch and Pringles were on sale at Food Lion… and we caught some bass… that one Dan has in pix must of jumped 5-6 times!

A buddy of mine swears by sand fleas and does well, but I don't have the patience to dig around the sand like a little kid so it's not my "go to live bait"... Shrimp absolutely! But NEVER buy those frozen tubs they sell at the pier - Never! I love shrimp, fish love shrimp... but would you eat that crap in the frozen tub, me neither and neither do the fish, they can smell the difference and it would fall off your hook anyway... go to Piggly Wiggly or Food Lion or whatever and buy some fresh shrimp out of the meat counter, a pound is less than $10 bucks and it will stay on you hook. Feed the tip of your hook thru the fat end of the shrimp and make your hook follow around the middle of the curve in the shrimp and pop the tip of the hook all the way out back towards the tail. I have caught 100's of fish on shrimp exactly like this! Good luck!

Last time I fished Apache Pier there were several guys using 12'-14' rods with about 8 hooks and ribbons every foot leaning the rod on the rail going up and down like a seesaw purposely trying to catch ribbon fish... which I get it if you are going to keep them for fishing the next day for trolling... but trying to catch Ribbon Fish on purpose is crazy... If you happen to catch a ribbon fish by accident, it will try to wrap around your arm, beware they have nasty teeth. I would cut it up and use it for cut bait and wing it out there with a pyramid sinker fish finder rig. Also, try using a conventional rod and reel and drop a bait directly down (no casting) next to one of the piers... game fish love eat the barnacles off those piers and if you pay attention you can see them feeding. Good Luck!
