I am looking to start spending more time fishing snd learning to get better. If anyone has any tips on locations or different approaches to fishing I am open. I tried a chicken breast, oil, koolaid,& chicken blood bait today for catfish in eagle mountain lake and Shady grove creek, had some bites but did not catch anything, I’m not sure if the treble hook I used was too big or too small. I am looking to fish just about anything, heading to lake Weatherford tomorrow

Don’t know too much about your area but the Brozos river and Granbury lake are right south of you. I’ve caught striper in Granbury, and I know it’s got catfish. Good luck.

My opinion, that's f''ing rude. You should ask that via PM, if at all. We are all what we say we are. And we're all a bunch of folks who enjoy fishing, talking about fishing and sharing our experiences. That's just me. I'll shut up.

You’re exactly right, Spirit. Some folks need to get some manners!!! Could be transferred, transformed, transparent. Who knows, who Cares?

I have a Nisson Frontier with a 6 cylinder that is rated for 6000 lbs. I pull a 20 ft Triton and no problems. I would have your truck looked at before I started blaming the boat. Especially if there was no problem going down, but started on trip back home.

Hey Billy Bob, how much total weight do you think your Triton is. I have a 19’ Basscat and was wondering if my Frontier could get it up a steep boat ramp.

Check the braking gain setting on your truck and back it all the way off to see if that’s what’s causing it. Then check the brakes on the truck.

Cast out a couple of times and noticed that I wasn’t reaching max distance. Took a look and noticed that my line was getting stopped in a scratch at the top of my reel. Any good fixes for this? I have a file and was considering filing it down, but thought I would ask here first. Thanks in advance

More info needed: reel type, material, affected part?

Hey guys I’ve been looking around for a soft plastic bait dye that will dye a bait DARKER. Everything I have found is more of a mix you put in a container then you soak your baits in that. But I’m looking for something more on the go like the chartreuse markers/dip tub. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Saw1, I believe my reply was in response to DTong’s post and had nothing to do with yours.

Papacon 357. Are you the same one that tried that same approach with me last summer about us catchin lots of stripers. If so, KNOCK IT OFF ! You have NO clue what you're talikn about.
Catchin 122 fish in one day and releasing 122 fish doesn't hurt the fish population anymore than you sittin on your @$$ on your couch bitchin about us catchin fish and releasing them.
What's your problem anyway?
If you have a problem with our sport then stay the #e!! off our FISHIN site and go somewhere else to stir up trouble.
I'm surprised they even allow you to live in Texas to begin with. When I lived there I never knew anybody like you that lived there then. Bet you don't confront people face to face there in Texas about this.
And most of the people I know now it would not be advisable for you to try it face to face here either.
Papacon 357. Are you the same one that tried that ... (show quote)

I don’t know about last summer, but reread your post and see if release was mentioned. I don’t think so, but it may have been an honest oversight. It just pisses me off when people abuse our gifts. Like the two who caught AND kept 105 white bass when the limit was 25. By the way as an American I can live in any state I damn well choose, and I’ll be just as adamant about their wildlife. I don’t think that would perturb you. If I’m wrong about that—-Tough Tittie.

I very much agree that there is way to much technology out there when it comes to fishing 🎣 the most fish I have ever caught was in a beat up old 12ft aluminum boat and literally my dad and I caught over 100 fish 🎣 in a day 122 to be exact on a creek called Butte creek in the Colusa ca area only electronics we had was the outboard motor

That experience you had did more to harm fishing than all the electronics, baits, scents, etc. That’s why the wildlife biologists keep an eye open all the time. When fish get too scarce they change the length and/or possession limits. Get off our ass and go find something productive to do!

Probably not. The cold spell didn’t come on fast enough to catch them off guard. Animals are usually smarter than humans, weatherwise. That’s why all the old farmers watched the animals so closely.
