You really don’t want it look at what we pay for electricity . But seriously we have some great cold water trout fishery well managed . I only need to drive 50 miles to some pretty fine salt water stripped bass, scup and bluefish . lMB bass is pretty good but a I get a little jealous of those of you further south
Scary story. Not sure I want an anchor on my Yak. Certainly it would be on a trolley with a a quick releases . I don’t have the winds you have but I sure have ski boats and huge bass boats which all threats to my little yak. PM me. I have a variety of small Rapalas which I gave not been really successful with. They are yours if you want them
In Connecticut all your fishing license fees and trout stamp go to managing the fishery . But seriously my all water instate fishing license costs me 40 bucks. Less than a tank of gas. A six pack of decent beer costs 12 bucks . My fishing license is a bargain and barely a blimp on my annual expenses.
Gut hooking is why when fishing for in some trout management areas where all fish must be released , I always fish with barbless hooks or pinched down barbs. I usually use artificial baits ( in line spinners and spoons) . Even when i am fishing where I can keep, I will still use barbless hooks but might use power bait, trout magnets and small plastics for trout. If it gets badly gut hooked I keep it. Sure makes getting the hook out quicker and gets the fish back in the water faster for non gut hooked fish. The important part is get the fish back in the water as soon as you can for maximum survival chances. Cut the line off as short as possible first
Good luck get a fishing license at Walmart in Connecticut. In fact good luck finding an employee in the fishing department or sporting goods department. Really go online to the states Dept of Natural
Resources, Dept of Wildlife, or Fisheries and buy it on line. I buy my fishing licenses for CT, MA, NH, and VT this way. So simple. In 30 minutes on January 2nd I have all of them .
Sounds like another trip is in store. Worms were a good choice. Do you know deep the water is ? Try a simple bobber rig but vary the depth setting. Don't use too large of a bobber. Golf ball size is way to big. If you see bait fish, there should be something else, at least blue gill or other small panfish. If it is a small pond don't expect large bass. When I venture into small ponds which I don't know, I use a pan fish set up first. If that is productive I might try something to target slightly larger fish.
No real issue. I tend to use a lighter leader so if for some reason :) I get a snag, if it breaks off the leader is weak link and it breaks there. I don't end up leaving a a few yards of line the water to snag ducks etc.
Might work for a single hook. I have never really been able to retrieve a treble unless I am wading and ca get up store of the snag then there is a chance. But I too will need to give this a shot.
Does the PA Fish and Wildlife department (sorry don't know its exact term) list accessible fishing sites? Connecticut does and they usually have small concrete platforms accessible by a paved walk or at least a packed dirt path. Not always in the best locations n the end but you can get our an fish ,
Dress for it so you stay warm and dry. IN the Northeast in the spring this can be a challenge. Thunderstorm, though go home. Your carbon fiber rod is a superb lightening rod.
Welcome back Not to far from the Housatonic! Nice place be.

Ditto . Some lakes I need to head to shore before the early AM speed limits expire. Which gives me about two hours to fish from my yak.
Becoming more and more common. Makes it much easier and better for the fish on catch and release. Also circle hooks are being mandated particularly for striped bass . In areas where shire nesting water birds are common and again in states with Loon populations lead free terminal tackle is also required.
