Yeah, GOOGLE, Shabbona Lake Recreation Area. Nice park, has camping and good Walleye, LM Bass, Cats and Pan Fish. Lots of shoreline. 318 acres in a 1,500 acre park. Good Luck!
Lake Geneva has a great fishery there's plenty of attractions, resorts and guides.

Just happened to be watching Hank Parker this morning. He was fishing in Sturgeon Bay WI for smallies. He described how he spooled two reels in the hotel room with FC while he was reeling it in from dragging it behind the boat. He said FC is stiff and likes to twist and letting it out behind the boat is the best fix.
Black fly season is the Spring equivalent to pheasant season. Best approached with a 20 gauge and #9 shot!

The Walsten site doesn't say if they have any live bait available, so maybe some Powerbait/Gulp Max Scent minnows, grubs,worms. Mepps Musky Killers is a good choice. If you try for smallies get some Gulp or Coffee tube jigs but they say Chase Lake doesn't hold any. Accurate fish scale, Benadryl Gel for bug bites, headlamp so hands are free to carry stuff.
If anyone still needs their passport they better get on it, it can take awhile. Check what the border restrictions are for quantity of alcohol. Border officials are not your enemy but they are NOT your friend.

I believe it's all about assessing your risk. I've had a carry card for 7 years and never carried, but I don't live in a big city. If I did I would Carry all the time. When I was a teen early 70s, I worked in a men's clothing store IN Chicago. One of the stores I worked in had tacked up on a backroom wall, actual photographs of the St. Valentines Day Massacre. I also learned that couriers in the Chicago diamond district who made deliveries in back alleys during off hours ALL carried guns. They balanced getting caught with a handgun with getting robbed and killed with getting a citation for carriyng an illegal gun. At home you generally need to show you were in FEAR OF LOSING YOUR LIFE!
