Finally able to get from Washington into British Columbia. Very successful fishing Trip to Langara Lodge, on the very North tip of the Hadai Gwai Island chain. Weather was great and the fishing hot. Limits of 20 lb. Chinook, Coho, Lingcod and Halibut. Strongly recommend this lodge for those looking for some great fishing.

Sounds like you had a great fishing trip Terry. Seeing your pictures will be the closest I'll ever get to experiencing anything like that. Way to go - keep the fishing stories and pictures coming.

Just keep stripping the line until you have enough distance, watch videos and see how they do it

You might want to check out "Mad River Outfitters" series on begining fly fishing on U-tube; I believe they would be very helpful in improving your casting.

Doesn't look too hot for him, just us!
Great pic.

Hey saw-1: I grew up East of Stockton about 1/4 mile from a canal, my brothers and I was fishing, swimming, hunting bull frogs all summer long. What heat? As kids we didn't even notice that it was hot out. Not so today, here in Lost Wages, NV Tied a high of 116 degrees not too long ago. That is HOT! As kids to beat the heat we just retreated to the cool basement during the hottest afternoons. Fishing was good perch, bluegill, bass, carp and once a 27 inch salmon trying to get upstream, most likely lost. Lol Stay safe and cool

Here's a "yellow" bullhead. RJ you would consider these little guys bait. And they do make great baits. But for a young hoosier fishing the creeks around his house in 1956 or so, they were trophy material. And some pretty good eatin also, as I recall.

Exactly like the very first fish I ever caught. Hooked on fishing ever since. Was out of my uncle's stock pond using a cane pole, below a cork bobber with two hooks and baited with a small chunk of beef steak. Even pulled out two bullheads at once. Was very good eating for sure!

The weather was Clear Hot and Calm, So.....
We decided on a little Bobber fishing. It was like attack of the killer Blue Gills! They were on fire. A bobber, split shot and a worm. Couldn't have gotten any more basic. We fished Pads and some sunken timber. Stopped at 75 keepers Cause that's where the limit made us stop. Fish were 8 inches and above, Caught a few nice Bulls over 10 inches. Drank a bunch of beers cleaning up for that fish fry.

So I’m going to go fishing in about a month and I need something to keep the fish alive while I’m out. I need something for saltwater fish (not giant ones, just fish like croakers and flounder, just going to fish off a dock). I’m not sure what I could use or where I could find something. Maybe some sort of basket like thing I can throw into the water after putting the fish in?

Hello Resses: i have used a nylon mesh bag (for laundry use) to keep trout in that I've caught. Place fish in bag, close draw string and attach a line to draw string and place in water. Loosen draw string to insert next fish. See attached that i purchased from Amazon: I hope!

Made a camping/fishing trip last Tuesday through Friday from Las Vegas to Pine Valley Reservoir Northwest of St George, UT. Great weather aside from the wind! Was near 40 degrees Friday morning. Great fishing also, caught over 20 Rainbows, ate one cooked in foil on campfire coals, returned home with 5. I gave two to another group not doing as well and released the others. The biggest was 11 inches. Was using spinning outfit with 3 inch pink worm and slip bobber.
One trout threw the hook back at me with a last jump out of the water just as I was getting him next to the bank and swam back into the deep.
Will be going back again first week in August. Fish were stocked twice this spring, total of 5000 eight to ten inches.

Managed to get out for some stream trout this afternoon way up on the South Branch of the Boardman River, which runs through the small town of South Boardman, MI. Rod of choice was a 7' ultralite rig with an old Garcia Mitchell 308 reel flicking "00" sized Mepps Spinners (single hook fly style). Silver blade with brown squirrel tail was the "go to" color today, although most times they strike at almost anything. The strain of fish in this stretch of river date back to almost 120 years of natural reproduction, and possibly even longer!

This water is so brushy and tight in most places that your lure only has about 5 to 10 seconds of "water time" before you have to get it out and toss again. Half of the time you are able to land the lure in the water, the other half of the time you are in the trees...par for the course! Typical distance for a cast is about 12 feet, so you are right on top of the fish and stealth is paramount. Once in a while there is a large enough clearing that you can actually make a full cast. Superb habitat, and just enough water volume for a fish to keep it's skin wet. Managed to catch 6 fish. Also missed another half dozen strikes. The trout come out of cover like a lightning bolt and sometimes your lure is not able to stay in play long enough for a decent "take".

These are small fish, but their personalities, spunk and magnificent coloration make them worthy of pursuit. The wooded surroundings are not too hard on the eyes either! Halfway through the wade I startled a deer from an afternoon nap in the tall stream side grasses, and when it stood up it shocked me as well and I nearly tripped on a submerged log! That would have been very funny, but without anybody around to see it you'll just have to take my word on it!

In conclusion I am including a "chalk art" pickerel, which I thought might give you a little chuckle. We take care of our 3 year old grand daughter one day each week and right now she loves to doodle on the driveway. As her "fishing Papa", this provides an easy opportunity for me to continue introducing her to fishing by way of something she already enjoys. We are looking forward to taking her camping and fishing later this Summer.

Really nice looking brook trout Fishyaker! Caught a few smaller native brookies (5 to 6") in Black Hills, SD from small streams; also really hard to approach. Way to keep your grand daughter interested! Have two Mitchell reels 3000 and a 324 which I am currently using. Good to get out for some fishing and some catching.
