Welcome in Cougar, Hope you can treat em all like the first day of the rest of your life. It kind of cool to be able to not care what day of the week it is!

Had to laugh at how spot on your words are! Watching football tonight and thought it was the Sunday night game. Wife had to inform me it was a Monday night game.

Thanks fishyaker for posting this. If you ever have a chance to visit Southern Oregon, take one of the jet boat trips from Grants Pass, Oregon that goes through part of Hellgate, or take one of the white water trips from Gold Beach, Oregon. They are both on the Rogue River and tamer than what you saw on the video, but still a lot of fun.

Practically impossible under $100. I have Lew's, Abu Garcia, Pflueuger, Johnny Morris all lefty but none under $100. SixGill might have one around $120 but I don't care for mine so much.

You have a lot going for you by understanding what colors to use. I can throw every color bait I have in my tackle box and still not get a bite.

The Lews Tournament MP is over your budget at $136 on Amazon, but worth the extra money in my opinion. It is easy to adjust for different weight lures and it feels good in your hand.

That is awesome, hope you guys have a great hunt! Reminds me of when I was your grandsons age, hunting with my dad and our dogs on Klamath Lake in Oregon. We always had a great time, except for the time I forgot my gloves. It was really cold and foggy which kept the ducks low and action was good. Only problem was that my hands were so stinking cold that it hurt every time I took a shot. We heard some geese coming in before we could see them and my dad told me to grab the 10 gauge which he would usually use for geese. This was an old Stevens single that shot 3 1/2" shells and felt like it weighed two pounds. That thing would knock the snot out of you when you pulled the trigger. I took the shot and got a goose, but I was done. Never forgot my gloves again.

Hello Apollo. I fish Ft Gibson & Hudson lake, just down stream from Grand Lake. Lot of pelicans here too. There are flocks of cormorants in the thousands on Ft Gibson lake. Hudson has far, far too many but not the numbers as Gibson. If those pests eat a pound of fish a day each that's as much as 2 tons of fish that need to be left in the water as forage for all the fish species in the lake. I think it's time (past) for the US Fish & Wildlife service to go to war with the black Devils. Yes, they eat catfish. In the Mississippi Delta where commercial catfish ponds go for miles the owners secure permits to shoot them off their ponds. Cormorants can devastate a pond in a short time.

Hi bottomcoon, thanks for your comment! I talked with a guy a few months ago that fishes Lake Eufaula and they are having the same issue with cormorants eating anything and everything. I am fairly new to Oklahoma, having moved here from Oregon this year and was not aware of the strong feelings of resentment against them by such a broad range of people. In Southern Oregon, we had some cormorants, but not enough for most to be worried about, and we probably put them in the category of zebra mussels, that it is a problem, but not so much for our area in Oregon. It has definitely been a learning experience for me reading the comments on the fishing forum about the devastation these birds cause.
