Billycrap2, thank you and you're welcome! Now that we finally have safe ice and it looks like it's going to stay cold hopefully I will be posting many more over the winter. We plan on going perch fishing next weekend so unless something changes I should have more pics soon.
DCGravity, thank you. Here in Michigan it qualifies for a master angler certificate. I plan to get it mounted. At 63 years old it's the biggest gill I've ever personally seen or caught.
Wv mike, thanks! Yeah, it's a spring fed lake as well so it's cold and clear year around. The fish taste excellent.
Fredfish, thank you! We still can't believe that we didn't get pictures of the bass but the fish were biting so good we didn't want to stop for ANYTHING. Lol.
FourchonLa, thank you! She's a beauty.
My son-in-law and I had a great day on the ice today. Same lake as last time, same spot. Couldn't catch a pike for nothin. BUT...I DID catch a bluegill over 11" long with a huge girth along with several 8 and 9 inchers. 20 keepers and about as many smaller ones. My son-in-law caught several bass around 18" as well. I can't explain why we didn't get pics of the bass. Lol.
Randog113, looks like you had a great time! Nice catch.
Locotetra, if a local doesn't give an ice report try contacting a bait shop near the lake. They can give a very accurate report on the ice conditions.
Great story fishyaker! I have 3 grand daughters that I am blessed to be able to watch twice a week on average. I and their father hope to get them into ice fishing this year if we ever get safe ice. Lol. I know just how you feel. Grandkids are wonderful.
Ice isn't safe in the Oscoda/ Tawas area.
fishyaker, good times! I swear almost every chance I get to ice fish it's windy and near or below zero but I usually manage to catch a few. Nice lakers!
Fishyaker, I agree. That's why I asked about it. I'm curious!
