You are welcome. Glad to help. I use jigs a lot and found it was a big help. It is so small it fits in pocket or tackle box. One of those little things you wish you invented.

You can not use doe bait for fishing unless the deer was taken legally!!!

Do yourself a favor and go to a tackle shop and buy the special tool. It cost around $3.00. If you use another hook point it will dull that hook. If you are going to do any serious fishing and use a lot of jigs you will see how much better it works.

Hello PK-11. Take the advice of BeerRoot ZNA. Try wacky worm fishing. If someone can't catch bass using a wacky worm they should take up another sport. It has to be the easiest do-nothing technique there is. It doesn't even require Senkos as plenty of other worms work well. Most hits come as the lure hits the water and starts to sink. If not then twitch it a little and watch your line for movement. By the way, there may be fishermen and fisherwomen who can't afford the more expensive worms for this rigging. If on a budget I suggest you check out a worm called "Jersey Riggs". They are priced right and you get 15 per bag. They will last a long time if you use an "O" ring. My buddy and I have caught so many bass with them over the last 20 plus years and we never heard of Yamamotos Senko till recently. Another good choice is Bass Pro Shops Stick-o worm in 5 or 6 inch. Good luck.

Hello ikwj. I am curious and I am sure others are also. Do you mind telling us why so many outfits? My first thought was that you are sponsoring some kind of fishing derby. Maybe for the kids. You really can't ask a question like that and not expect some follow questions. Thanks for any reply.

I was wondering if any one ever read a story years ago about how rattling lures may have been invented.. I forget what brand lure it was but the manufacturer was getting complaints about not enough of the rattle ones being on store shelves and also that store owners were complaining about customers going through all the lures and shaking them to see if they would rattle. It turns out the company never made ones that rattled. They were putting bb's in the lures to cast farther and sink faster. The lures had a hollow chamber on each half of the lure that was supposed to contain the bb's when the two sides were glued together but as it happened a few got loose now and then in the assembly process.

The old standby for this is to hold the rod with one hand on each piece and behind your knees and use the strength of your legs to pry them apart. Good luck and good fishing.

I have have noticed that I can always find plenty of both. What I have noticed is a lot of them are a color no one will throw. I always pickup some try it and if I catch fish I keep it the color it is you never know what a fish will hit. If I don't catch fish I repaint it to one of my favorites. You will be surprised how many of those crazy colors catch fish.

Another thing was the old price tag on them. A lot of them were way overpriced and had dust on them. Probably sat on the shelves forever..

Hi everyone, extremely casual angler here. I caught 1 small mouth bass and 2 pickerel. The bass was first, the hook came out easily, I tossed him back and he took off in a flash of the tail. The 2 pickerel though, I'm afraid I killed. One I realized I was giving the death grip while unhooking, but even so, I was surprised when he bobbed kind of aimlessly, would give an attempt to move, but last I saw he was struggling. I didn't have him out of the water longer than 2 or 3 minutes, as the trebel hook (is that the right word for the 3-hook?) was giving me some trouble coming out. The second pickerel was even worse. I got him back in the water much faster and I was conscious to not squeeze him. He didn't even try to swim, he just floated downstream like a frozen fish from the supermarket.

What the heck am I doing wrong? I noticed that unhooking the pickerel would move their whole head and jaw around. Whereas the bass was basically hooked in the corner of the jaw. The pickerel have a smaller mouth so the trebel hook would hook in one place when I dislodged it from another. That's what was causing the delay. Still, the bass was out of the water longer as I took some pictures with him and he seemed unphased. I don't want to incidentally kill or torture these things. Any input is welcome, thanks!

Hi everyone, extremely casual angler here. I caugh... (show quote)

One thing you may want to check out is a tool called a jaw spreader. The trouble with these fish is they clamp down with their mouths and getting the lure or hook out is difficult. They can be found at most tackle stores for around $3.00.They take up very little room in a tackle box or pocket.

I am sure a lot of you have been to sports shows and seen the lures at closeout prices. They will be in barrels, boxes and my favorite is when they are in a 10 foot jon boat. More room to push them around and dig deeper. I used to go to the big show here in the northeast at Harrisburg,Pa. I always noticed something about the types of lures in these containers and was wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing. The majority of them seemed to be either deep divers or sinking ones. Floaters and shallow divers were in short supply. I always found that interesting. Was the thought of getting hung up in deep water and not getting it back the reason why?

That’s an interesting analysis . It’s funny .. I live in North East Pennsylvania and most of the time a “big bass” is 5 lbs. seriously. Anything over 6 is a true giant from my parts.

Have you considered the old stand-by, a Johnson silver minnow. It worked 75[?] plus years ago and it will work today. We used to fish one of the weediest lakes around. About 175 acres. From summer through fall we had one third of the lake all to ourselves because no one came to the back end of it because it was like a carpet. I used them in silver and perch colors with and without trailers and caught lots of bass and of course pickerel. I used a baitcaster with heavy braid.

That type seems very hard to find. Where did you get them in the first place?
