Used to be a Shimano reel repair tech when they were located in N.J.. Sounds like you have either a broken bail spring or bent bail wire. That reel was not one that i repaired ever ( it was 30yrs ago) but the mechanics are similar i would think
Date the stripper, marry the librarian.
The first cut is the deepest
And feed man to the fishes and you dont hear him bitchin any more!
Had a sundolphin journey and would not reccomend. Was a sit on and very tippy. Also would begin to spin when you stopped paddling. Have had others and this was the worst, stear clear of the journey.9
Those Piscifuns are great bargains for 40bucks. Got a few and im a big fan
Look up Piscifun reels on Amazon. They are 40 bucks and I use them. I know theyare made overseas (as are many) but for the price they are hard to top. You will have lots of $ left over to buy the rod of your choice
Also most of the newer depth finder/fish finders have a surface temp gauge as well. I early spring and fall I have used the surface temp to turn a bad day into a good one. More spring than fall by the way.
Spent a day fishing with him on okeechobee back in the early 80s
Good times
I have both kinds. The "flat one" and one with more of a vbottom
8 & 10 ft respectively. Great boats to fish out of and the 8 ft flst one weighs around 100lbs. Use electrics on both, bow mounted. Would recommend to anyone for smaller lakes. Tried the kayak and it was too much of a pain to get stuff when needed from the crate in the back
Im fishing Walker lake in Shohola. Havent tried the reservoir yet
Been getting a mess in Shohola. Walker lake

I still use 2 of those westmorland rods, with electric tape. A gray graphite one, and a blue boron one. They were sold by bass pro shops. At one time I had the green Zebco cardinals on them. A 3 and a 4. Gotta be 40 years old now. Good times, good times.
