Cam, the camera's don't make a difference today!!!!!
Different weights of braid are on all my spinning reels depending on salt or fresh water use. Just don't cast a light lure into the wind. More and more of my bait caster reels are going to braid as times goes by and the line needs replacing. I use Mason mono or FC as a leader on slow presentations with the braid. Good sensitivity and strength. If you tie the braid directly to the spool, then once the braid shows some wear you can swap ends and double the life of the braid.

So nice to read all the stories of how we got into fishing. Like many others, my Dad liked to fish too. When I was
around 6 years old we would go down to Mustang Creek near Taylor Texas. We used a cane pole, string, hook, and some worms I would find around the barn. Mostly what we caught were what he called "mud cats", because they would taste like dirt. Some one told him to soak the catfish in "clabber" from the milk. It really did help. From there we went to a little lake in Taylor to catch bluegill and an occasional bass. In my last move back to Texas, I lost my original fiberglass rod and Zebco reel. Kinda wanted to pass it on to the grandkids. Maybe it will show up.
Since then, my wife and I have fished in many western states. So nice to have a wife for a fishing partner.
The novacaine sounds like a good idea. I kinda froze my thumb in ice for a while my wife dug around to get a metal sliver out that had been in for a couple of weeks. When I felt pain we just froze it a little more. She finally got it out. Then soaked it in kerosene for half an hour and no infection.
I have not fished Belton Lake for anything, but for catfish one can generally depend on anything that stinks. Even worms and bar soap. Just U tube and you will find many examples.

There are some who like to argue, I just ignore them. And you were right the poor man just asked about fish and there was no reason for him or you to get jumped on, I've experienced that once so I don't judge the rest. There are some great people on here and I have met a couple in person and fished with them also. Hope ya'll don't get discouraged by the minority
Hey Cam T, remember that ole saying "there's always one bad apple in a barrel". Well, we just identified one. I just logged on and could not believe what I was reading. Agree with how you phrased it. Take care down in that busy town you are in.
Saw,
You are also one of the fellow stagers that I follow and I concur a 100% with your opinion.
It's so bad that I am looking for other "fishing forums" to visit and there are lots of them here in Texas.
Over the years, I have picked up many tips regarding fishing processes here on the stage.
I am older now and don't get out as much any more with knee issues. But I thoroughly enjoy the pictures and comments y'all post.
All the best!!!!!
Plum,
I have read and enjoyed your post for a long time.
I tried to voice an opinion to the administration about the new format and they blocked out any comments.
Personally, I am not enthused about it. How do you feel?
