I found out I’d rather be on the shore or in our boat. It’s much more satisfying !
I just saw your new reel & rod, very nice. But I wanted to say get well and fast as you can. I had lower back surgery in June 2018. It went well. I hope your back to full recovery soon.
I played golf 6 months later and never looked back. Get well.
I have the shimano baitrunner 3500. It is an awesome reel. I caught many stripers in Mayberry Slew in the Delta out by Antioch.
Next time I’m out, I’m going to take a few pictures to show you guys where & what I’m doing. We’re so far back in these little coves that there is no room to cast. Your mostly pitching into heavy thatched areas at about 24 - 18 inches of water. My motor is trimming completely up and sometimes we have to get the troller up and drift and use an oar.
I don’t mind the practice. That just gets me closer to accidentally catching a big 1. I have the Johnny Morris newest version of the bait caster. That thing runs incredibly smooth. And I’ve bird nested myself pretty good but it takes a little patience to get them out but I’m back at it.
I’m pretty sure the Eagle Claw just needs to be cleaned out and greased up.
Back to the bench !

Maybe you should have read the posts previous to yours. By the way, my dad bought quality everything. And I don’t appreciate your “ box store special “ comment. Eagle Claw sells top shelf everything and has for years.
That’s how I feel. I have all his guns & ammo, fishing equipment, tools vehicles. Just having those items, every time I touch or see, reminds me of all the good things & times. As I’m sure is the same for you.
I’m hoping that the Eagle Claw doesn’t have the same end result !

He has an ultralite spin cast that I did just that with but the ending is kinda ironic. I took a couple friends out on the boat - we get set up in this cove - I throw out a #5 white rooster tail, started reeling in and wham. A 2lb lm. Well just as my buddies wife nets the fish - the reel broke on that reverse lever. Now it goes both ways without stopping. It’s on the wall right in front of our fishing bench
Thank you

That makes sense from Denver. We split time growing up in Boulder & Fairfield Ct. when he bought it, no clue. That could be as early as 64 - he kept everything in pristine condition. I was a little surprised at how sluggish the spool is. But I think that’s been answered and I’ll report back about cleaning it and it’s operation.

Maybe you can tell me who the manufacturer is? From where my dad got his equipment I believe it is a Bass Pro Shop. Maybe an original. He has a Johnny Morris Bass Pro Shop ultralite spin cast reel combo that I think is original also.
I’m glad I could make you guys think for a bit ! I’m typically amazed at the amount of info & knowledge that is past on. Keep it up. You guys are great.
Thank you spirit, fred & the rest of the crew !
Hey guys - just catching up with the posts. It’s an Eagle Claw.
