Jimmiel, all Baitcasteing reels should be used on top of the rod. BC rods have a "trigger "under the reel, for your index finger. The reel has a thumbar to release the spool for casting. The guides on a BC rod are on top of the rod. Spinning reels should be below the rod. Spinning rods have a large "gathering "guide first,to contain the whipping around line during a cast. The weight of the spinning reel is far below the center of gravity of the rod. If you use it upside down, it's very hard to hold because the weight wants to flip the rod over so the weight is below the rod. Baitcasters are made "low profile "so the weight is very close to the center of gravity of the rod. That way it's easy to keep the rod and reel upright. When cranking any reel, your hand should be going away from you, when going "over the top " of the handle rotation. You should never be pulling the handle towards you, always pushing the handle away from you. That's how they were designed to work. I hope this is clear to you, kinda hard to explain without seeing it. Tight Lines!

Very good explanation of both casting and spinning rods. let me add one further point as to "up versus down" with a casting rod and reel. Yes, the reel faces up and kinda remains faced "up" during a (side arm) cast. However, what some may not know or realize is that when making an over head and/or overhand type cast, the reel handles should face UP. This allows the proper forward thrust of your wrist.

Well,

Over the years, I've owned around ten bikes, the last five have been Harleys. Current one is a 2014 StreetGlide Special. Very low milage cause at my age, most of my pals have sold out and/or are too crippled out to ride anymore. Wife no longer cares to get on it.

So I will be selling it sometime this year, just gathering dust in my garage and costing me money for taxes, insurance, etc. Enjoyed them over the years, did Daytona several times and of course near by Myrtle Beach Rallys and a few years back, we did the big deal and took in Sturgis.

Here is the long story as to my handle. When I was a kid, some of my friends had a motorscooter and with the exception of one that was an Allstate as I recall, the others were Cushmans.

Cushmans were made in Lincoln, Nebraska. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. At around age 14 or so, one of my buddies wanted to sell his Cushman and I really wanted to buy it. Dad would not go for it. So it never happened.

Fast forward to the 70's, CB Radios become the "big deal " to have. I had one in my truck and also my wifes car. Now to be "legal", you were supposed to create a "handle" that would identify you on the air. I chose to go with motorscooter as my CB handle back in those days. I guess cause I never did get over the fact that I never got to own one.

Fast forward again............Somewhere in the late 80's or so, many folks were getting on the internet and that required a (userid). It seemed that you needed at least 8 characters.......bottom line, I abbreviated my old CB handle to Moscooter...................

So, on some Harley forums, I am known as Mo.............and others seem to refer to me as Scoot.

Take your pick...........

You now have the story.

"I just want a wheeled, roto-molded cooler to store drinks and fish I catch. Thanks in advance!"

In my opinion, you do NOT want to do the above. Maybe go with a very large wheeled cooler and then put a smaller cooler on top strapped down.

I can tell ya from many experiences going on week long fly in fishing trips to Canada. We learned pretty quickly to string up the walleyes and maybe a Northern or two and hang them from the side of the boat. Water up there is pretty cold.

When I say............"learned pretty quickly", I'm talking about the MISTAKE of putting those fish in the cooler where our day long supply of beers were.

Put your lips on a beer can that has been sitting in the same cooler as some fish, you may find out it's not too tasty.

Been there..............done that.

Sounds to me like you are describing a Carolina Rig. More typically, you would slide the football (often one ounce) and/or bullet weight onto the main line and then follow that with a red plastic bead then the swivel. The bead keeps the heavy weight from cutting into the knot. Then you add the leader with a worm as you described. Your pal added air to the worm to make it float up off the bottom.

It's kind of a running gag with me and some of the other fellas on here about my woes of not having a fishing kayak or boat... nothing was meant by it and it is not even a factor in my search.

I knew that..........a common old ploy. I was just jerkin' your chain a little. On the other hand, you just might get a response from a lady that has the boat and all the (other goodies) that would give you a good ride on the water and maybe elsewhere.

Super, A gill that size gotta pull and fight better than a 3 or 4 pound bass (which either of would fight harder than a 5 or 6 pound bass.)

I can't...no pictures...left the trailer in La-La Land. (¿You DID see me mentioning about: "It all depends on what you put in your pipe."; ... Didn't ya?)

No I did not see your prior mention.........Most of us are looking for factual experiences that relate to fishing as I see it on this forum.

Occasionally, we encounter a totally B.S. posting..........as recently I called BULL SH**, on a guy claiming to have caught a 9 or 10 pound bluegill. Can't recall the exact specifics now, but you could look it up.

So, in my mind, he became a DH***, which is a term I would use for those that seem to want to jerk around with "reality"..................

Go find another forum for that sh**.

You would be correct as it being a Butt (Boston Butt). I've now lived in No. Carolina for over 35 years and while it's close to a ham, it is as you said. It's the upper part of the fore leg containing the shoulder blade. If you get the entire whole front fore leg, that would include what is termed the plcnic ham.

I love Pork Butts. just did one about a week ago. Around here, there is a mix of which sauce is the best. Some parts of the state prefer the tomato based sauce and others (like me) go wild for the peppery vinegar based sauce.

I was with you and agreeing with most of what you describe as only in Texas type words. But not when you got to ideer.

To me, adding "r"s at the end of some words is typically a part of many from the No. East. While many others in the No. East eliminate that same "r" when it should be there..........Like (Pak the cah)..........a phrase that some from states in the Noeast might use to tell a valet to park the car.

There is one (oddity) for terms that I have heard in the past as being pretty much just in Texas. That would be referring to a small pond or lake as a "tank".

Well, I kinda agree. My major choice of car/truck colors as well as my Harley has always been red. My 1939 Chevy street rod was red also.

While I've always followed that pattern, it seems the SSR that I was after had to have certain "updates" and "mods" that I found out were really the thing to have. So, being as I wanted a six speed, the one I found with the options I wanted turned out to be BLACK.

I've added some red pin stripping to off set that total black look. In addition, the last Harley I got was the one and only BLACK one I've ever had. It was a special deal that I couldn't pass up.

So...........Ya don't necessarily always get the color you really want.

I'm less than two miles from the surf at Sunset Beach. Not really into salt water fishing, I have a small bass boat.
Hopefully you have or once did have a great job that has you living in New York state cause I once lived up there (Kingston) for about two years, 3 months and 5 days.......Whew....Just leaving the state is like a nice salary increase by itself.
