By the way that's my grandfather Fredrick, I would say 1920,thanks for responding davey ducks

Grandfather Frederick looks like he was an avid outdoorsman!

In my humble opinion, having actually fished both fly & centerpin combos, the position of the reel (seated midway on the butt) and the substantial (heavy) looking rod wood make it a difficult effort to cast a fly.
Centerpins free spool with no drag and would have made it ideal to live-line some bait (eels?) for that nice striper your grandfather caught.
Again, just my observation from your family photo - butt, I’m shore someone will disagree with my Assessment, knot shore why, other than he knows everything & is always correct.

Thanks Mickey. I bring 6 rods on most trips, to cover the entire water column. From Frogs to Jigs. I catch most of my Bass on a TR Stick worm, weightless. In fact, that's what I caught my PB Crappie on, totally by accident. I'm bringing a few small grubs and leadheads to play around with.

That’s a lunker of a Crappie Fred & will be hard to top - But I’m sure you’re up to the challenge!!
Looking forward to the pictures of your day on the water, go get’m!

I'm hoping there wasn't much street flooding between me and Old Lyme. The lake isn't fed by any major rivers so hopefully the water's pretty clear. I'm hunting Bass, but might try to beat my PB Crappie while I'm there. I'm not bringing a cooler so it will be CPR only.

Good luck Fred, hoping the lake is knot too stirred up from the rain.
How are you targeting the crappie & bass?
Tight Lines!

Reminds me of an early version of a center-pin or maybe a mooching reel?

What does KNOT mean? Scroom. Is perfect. I agree a million percent about SCROOM. I have had BLight as my regular many years ago. I guarantee all of you NOBODY would be telling this FREE AMERICAN about what type of beer I should or can or can’t buy. No one.

I like the heavier brews American and Imported. I usually get Keystone currently because it’s from the same exact barrels ( stainless Vessels) at Coors that Coors Light is made in. I met a Coors Executive on a Caribbean Cruise and she asked me what brand I would buy at home. I explained I like many but if I’m going far from civilization I usually will buy a bunch of Keystone Light. Then she explained that they use to dump the Keystone until they figured out they could bottle or Can the waste bi product and call it something different because it tastes a little tiny different. Money is money.

Jeremy,
Knot shore why I am even responding to your first sentence & question in a totally unrelated post.
But, out of consideration for someone who is knot on the same “wave”-length as Mickey, I will indulge you just this once.

“Knot shore” is Mickey’s oft-used angler vernacular in this fishing forum.
I hope that “casts” an inclusive enough “net” to help you understand & “mend” some differences, if you get my “drift”.

If you do knot, better ask your “leader”.
God Bless!

The last two dogs we had was rescue dogs one was a white English bull that we had for 14 years the other was a bullmastiff that we only had for 6 years but both had great lives and seemed to know we rescued them👍 We loved both like a kid ....

Happy to hear of your rescue success stories Chuckay!

We’ve had a difficult first 5 months with Hank our stray from Louisiana (solid Catahoula leopard dog).
He was 8 months old when adopted & has gone from Handsome Hank to Hank the Handful to Hank the Tank to Hammer’n Hank to Hannibal Hank.
My wife’s body is full of Hanks bite marks from playful nips to bi-polar aggressive bites.
We’ve tried everything (training, meds $$, soft muzzle etc), except for a “shock-collar” - has anything used these collars?
Thanks.

It does make us think Mick. As an Umpire you are always scrutinized and expected to keep calm no matter the situation. But, all it takes is one Butthead and that calm behavior button needs a reset sometimes.

Spot on Plum!
Buttheads are the #1 reason there’s a shortage of umps.

You sound like umpire material, I’ll send you an application.
