Pretty inventive using a screw to fix a frying pan. I would have never thought of that! Dinner looks yum!
We tried to get our teenage son out fishing with us yesterday evening. He didn’t accompany us but said that if either of us caught anything he would go the next time. I assured him that when I go fishing I ALWAYS catch something…a bush, a tree, a stick floating in the water, myself!
He then specified it had to be a fish; we shook on it.
We caught one fish all evening. Not much of a fish but still a win! 😉
Nice! Especially for a first time fishing from a kayak and in the dark :)
Searched it, great story!
I can relate to the wife…my husband tied a swivel(?) on the end of my line because I’m switching out lures every ten minutes. What can I say, I’m a woman, I like shiny things and I want to try them all! Lol

I'm guessing that last pic is where you caught that Bass. Now ya Know, on the LLano River, that's where they hold up.
You might want to try a Texas rigged, Green pumpkin, salamander or worm, next time you are out there.

Actually BD, I just thought it was cool looking with the exposed roots and the sunflowers growing in the tree lol. But you’re right, we passed a group of kayakers who said that is where they were catching the big bass using plastic worms. We didn’t have the same luck. Most of the fish we caught were in the calm pools of water near where the current was flowing really fast. I only knew to fish there because of reading articles and watching you tube videos. I only watched the you tube videos because they popped up when I googled different lure types. I only googled lures because I asked on this forum what the best ones would be for stocking a tackle box for my husband’s Father’s Day gift and got replies like “poppers” and “crank baits” etc. and I had no idea what anyone was talking about 😂. So, to make a short story even longer…I’m really glad my husband lost his tackle box or I would never have joined this forum. Reading everyone’s posts and being able to ask questions has really piqued my interest in fishing. Everything I’ve learned has given me the confidence to go out and fish independently which I never would have done before. Now I’m going to google ‘Texas rigged green pumpkin’ and will probably spend the next 45 minutes following a rabbit trail of fishing videos from there! Lol
Thanks for the tip.
Happy Fishing 🎣!

Congrats Lynnz.
When my Lynny goes with me she usually out fishes me. I figure it’s because I’m baiting her hook and don’t have as much time to fish as she does. Lol.
That’s exactly how we used to fish together but he’s still managed to outfish me every time. In fact, he told me on this trip that my fishing had improved and when I asked him “how so?” He said, “you’re actually catching some.” Lol To be fair he really did outfish me this trip too if you go by quantity; Chris caught a lot more fish than I did, but mine were all a lot bigger!
😂 Finally caught the bigger fish! Great day on the South Llano River yesterday. Husband says my fishing has improved…I’m sure that’s do to this forum and the you tube videos!
My husband and I are planning a fishing trip soon. We are headed to the South Llano for some iSup fishing but I wondered about stopping on the way to fish the San Sabo. I tried Google but couldn’t find any reports more recent than 2017. Anybody have any helpful info? Also, should we try the North Llano on an iSup? Most of the South Llano was pretty navigable a week or two ago from South Llano River Park to Junction; only a few spots where we had to carry the sup. Was curious about the north side from Junction. We only have a couple days so trying to make the most of our time.
Wow, what a fish! What a story! Great way to spend Father’s Day:)
Such a nice tribute to your dad. Thank you for sharing your story.
Cool pics! Hope you have more good weather ahead and safe travels.
