I love it. They say not too worry about the things you can't change. But why would you worry about the things you can? Just get'er did, don't worry at all, leave it in the hands of the Lord and go FEEshin'. Good thought, Plum. Nice picture too. I'm sold. I'm going to gear up right now and go play with some rainbows. "Hey, are you guys ready."

Thanks Jack. Those are beautiful fish. Probably Chinook? I love the posts about the Great Lakes fishery. Thanks for the pictures, and keep them coming.

Yes. Chinook. There was probably a couple steelies buried in the other cooler, but it's hard to tell. They were all caught the easy way...trolling.

Well said Plumbob, it starts at home, but then you need to make sure the public school system doesn't erase it from their minds. My wife and I pay for our Granddaughter's education in a Christian School, as our daughter can't really afford it, and I couldn't be happier with the results. She is very loving and respectful to us and to her parents, always sending kind reminders that it's working. I say, thank God! Have a great day!

Thanks Jack. That’s an interesting observation. Maybe there is more forage available in the lakes.
You might be interested to know that the fish in the picture is very likely genetically the same as your fish. The famous Skamania strain of Steelhead where the first transplants into the Great Lakes. The fish that I caught was hatched and reared at the Skamania hatchery which is about 20 miles upstream from my house.

That is a very interesting bit of information about the fish from the river in your back yard being the first plants in the Great Lakes. I think the Great Lakes Steelies probably get pretty fat from eating smelt and alewives, not to mention that they are spending most of their time in a lake and not being tossed about in a stream or the rips of an ocean.
Also, I find it very interesting in your answers to Jeremy that you inadvertently tell a great story of battling that most impressive fish. I can visualize the whole thing from the swirling waters to the cartwheel flip, hell I can hear the drag screaming when it runs back to the deep hole and feel the rod pulling like it was hooked to a car bumper. I love how you tell the story and how you reveal the very interesting fact that you have 50 years of experience and the proper equipment for stocking your quarry. Good tips for a young upstart to take not of. It gives one a clue as to the type and make of rod and reel setup, as well as line choices. There is a bright side to most things if we look from the right angle. Thanks. Here's what they look like in a 100 quart cooler from Lake Michigan. The pic with two fish are Jack Salmon. The full grown ones can rip your rod holder off the boat and pull like a freight train

Yup, the one with the red and white fins is a brookie. Still a great catch. Yummie.

History does repeat itself, but it never goes in reverse, so the fools tearing down statues can't make up for the damage they've done. Sadly.

I'm with you. There are many similarities from what happened with the Brits and what's happening now.

Hey Dave, 13 is a pretty good number of fish. Were they footballs or long skinny browns? I wonder why the rainbows went away? They say Lake Michigan is getting too warm, but I don't get it...the UP has snow on the ground. They have been getting lots of Steelhead in the rivers on the north end of the lake. The water in Lake Superior's Keweenaw Bay, near Baraga and L'Anse, is only about 34-35 degrees. There was a warm spell about three weeks ago and the smelt lined up in front of the rivers, but the weather turned cold again and they must have stalled, so now the Coho stopped hitting because there are so many smelt in the bay.
What I'm wondering is how is the fishing going out on Lake Michigan near Milwaukee. Does anyone know if they are getting any Coho or Kings?

I think he means sunfish or blue gills

Actually, Sunnies are pumpkinseed bluegills. They are beautiful fish with bright orange and yellow markings...ask your phone, "pictures of pumpkinseed bluegills". They are generally a little smaller than a bluegill.
Generally, I agree with taking kids after bluegills. If you are in a good spot they don't have time to complain, they'll just catch and have fun.

Gordon, I want to thank you for this history lesson. Since our nation was taken over by the deep state and the c****es in congress, it might be a good reminder to them and us that the second amendment is very important to the people and worth fighting for. After all, the Brits had more money than Zuckerberg and Gates, relative to the time, and the people couldn't be bought or bullied then, and I don't think they can be now if this critical factor is part of the equation.
I hope Patriots day is Wake-up day for the American Patriots who still believe in the phrase "for the people, of the people, and by the people"; NOT TO THE PEOPLE - whether they like it or not. I hope people are smart enough to realize that big government doesn't need bullets as long as they can use the v***s to create a fear culture and intimidation regimen.
Maybe the new mythos, like it was with cowboys and minutemen, will be wrapped around fishermen who woke up to a reminder of Patriot's Day.
Thanks for the wake-up call Able Man, and Happy Patriot's Day to you and anyone else who gives a rip. One part of the history lesson that Gordon wrote said the forces were in thirds, with one third being apathetic. I wonder what that number would be today. I wonder how many would be brain-washed fools who think the government only has their best interest in mind. How many know that the v***s was invented by Faucci, right here in the government lab he controlled until the congress of 2015 made him stop his research on the biological weapon and then he shipped it to W***n along with federal financial support. Could this be "the insurance policy" the politically corrupt deep state agents referred to? How many of us know that the percentage of people who are dying from the v*****e is higher than the percentage of people who don't survive the v***s? Why are we allowing them to scare everyone so they won't crawl out from under the bed? The propaganda machine (Media) has take the side of the c****es who want to own us, so forget about getting your two piece pole apart...break it in half and sharpen it.

Maybe the fish are all young. Could it be that the older fish died off because of a flood or a freeze out? Sometimes the problem could be that there are too many fish in a lake and they don't have enough food, so they become stunted.
Last...the lake or channel is fished out by the most dangerous predators on earth...
