Coho and browns running out of Waukegan harbor, caught 1 5lb brown trout and 8coho between 9am and noon 4/22.
Slow start but they started hitting in a frenzy after 9am.
Saw a lot of guys having success from the pier also.
Weather turned nasty with hail and rain.

Beautiful fish, just like the ones in Oregon.

This is one you will definitely be tempted to look up the answer. Resist the erge. If you must please don't ruin the fun for others.
Here's today's trivia guestion?
What is the original name of the portley old man with a mustache, who wears a morning suit with a bow tie and Top Hat. His first appearance was in 1940 and was modeled after businessman JP Morgan. The Policeman who sends you to jail also has a name. It's Officer Edgar Mallory.
Multiple guess choices:
A) Guy Smiley
B) Rich Uncle Pennybags
C) The Monopoly Guy
D) Milton Monopoly
E) Monty Moneybags
Put forth your best guess.
I'll post the answer Tuesday night.
Until then,

If your drag is set properly, should you ever break a rod on a fish? You would think your fishing line would break before your rod or I would hope anyway....

You would think so, I have seen a couple of very experienced guys break rods fighting salmon.

It does look like a good pan full. Good places to fish are sometimes hard to get to.

Thanks all, for your responses. I will update my boots and first aid kit as soon as possible. I hope there's not a next time, though.

Dr. Ardis says that if you get bitten by a venomous snake you should wait for about 15 min. pee and drink your pee or chew nicotine gum or put a nicotine patch on. The nicotine and pee work as anti-venom. They make anti-venom by shooting a horse with the venom and then the horse makes antibodies that work as anti-venom. We have nicotine colleen receptors in our brain organs and heart. Nicotine goes to the receptors and moves out the toxins from the venom. Nicotine has been proven by studies at Harvard that it is not addictive but an additive called pyrene that they put in cigarettes makes smoking addictive. Nicotine also works as a detoxer for Covid because it is venom based.

Did they actually stock today or scheduled sometime this week.

It is just stocked sometime between the days they post. They don't want people waiting there to meet them while they are stocking.

Just double checked Indiana noodeling laws.
It is illegal to catch catfish by your bare hands or noodeling, but not snapping turtles, which are legal.
Go figure. Episodes of the Turtle Man are now running through my brain.

But the turtle man never put his hand in the turtle's mouth.

It could be.
However, cottonmouths are pit-vipers and have a large, triangular head. The head on the second photo appeared more cylindrical than triangular. Attached is a photo of the Florida water snake, the color pattern looks awfully similar to your first photo.

One thing I noticed while living in Texas is that the water snake's colors were much darker and more pronounced and I didn't see any that were fat. Most venomous snakes have joules or a triangle head but not all do.

Looks like a water moccasin to me. They are the most aggressive snake I have come across. One of the distinctive identifiers of the ones I’ve seen they are fat in the middle and tapered to the tail and to the head I’ve also heard they’re one of the only snakes that can bite underwater. I’ve had an up close and personal experience with them trot lining at night. Have fun be careful.

My dad and a friend used to catch rattlesnakes and moccasins in Tennessee when they were young, and sell them to the university so they could make anti-venom. They were taught or believed that Moccasins couldn't bite underwater but one day they were out and his friend was in the water after a water moccasin and was bitten in the thigh underwater.

that looks like the same size as my first catch too and it was also a bluegill.

yea I wouldn't try noodling for a gar

I caught a small gar on a white rubber soft bait in a creek in Texas but I didn't hook it. I just held on and I was able to land it. I kept it because it was my friend's favorite fish. Her father was a commercial fisherman in Texas and would catch lots of them and he knew how to cut them and prepare them. She said he used an axe to fillet them because their shell is tough to cut through. They are hard to fillet and we had her neighbor fillet it and he kept most of it but I did get to try it. And she thought it was great.
