Thanks, I have some Calela’s stocking foot and they are ok with fins for float tubing, but for walking in the surf(stingrays) I’d feel better with a booted model.

Water temperature and how close they are to spawning are key to where they will be. Check for little depressions in the shallows to spot their beds and they won't be far off, spending some of the day feeding in deeper water close to their beds.
That is true, Steelies can be the fish of a thousand casts. I'm down here in SoCal so I can't be of much help.
