Well guys, had a good drive up. The weather and roads were dry and beautiful.
Got in town bout noon and ate lunch and dropped Sue off at the library bout 1245.
Got to the house bout 1pm .Got into the garage and finally got the snowblower fired up and it worked great.
Was lucky, only bout 3 1/2 feet of snow.
Took me bout 2 hours non stop, but I got er done.
Opened the driveway and the walkway.
Then went to get Sue.
Got back to the house and unloaded the truck. Then had just enough energy to traspe through the snow and knock off all the icicles from the eaves.
That was enough for 1 day.
I'm on my second beer now and dinner will be ready soon.
Didn't hurt my back but my shoulders feel like somebody took a nightstick to them.
Not use to rasselin that snowblower like I did 22 years ago when we left Tahoe. šŸ¤”šŸ¤

Sorry if you all are sick of seeing these posts, but if ya catchā€™em, ya gotta post ā€˜em. Another day of limit dungeness crab outside the Gate. We were all at the marina by 6:00 am, cold, cold. Got the boat ready and pots baited and heading out by 7:00 or so. Had the first string of pots set by 8:09 am. Started pulling them at 8:50 or so and the first pot had 4 keepers, then 3, and continued to dwindle, so after 4 pots we reset the pots at the beginning of the string and kept pulling/resetting the pots at the beginning of the string. The strategy worked and after pulling each pot twice we started stacking them on deck and at the end we had our limit of 30 (plus 1) keepers, thatā€™s about 2.2 keepers avg per pot. Time was 10:30 am, enough time to go rock fishing for 2 hours and get back in, boat buttoned up, fish and crab cleaned and beat the worst of commute traffic home. Rock fishing produced 2 keeper rock fish, 1 nice Cabezon and 4 King (croaker) fish to use as crab bait. Great day with good friends, Hal (Nook) and my buddy from my Alaska fishing trip Jim (JK).

Sorry, no pics of the fish. Heading back out tomorrow with my boat co-owner.

I told him that my daughter is a director for Catholic charities in our area and that they are always looking for volunteers. I put him in contact with her. Hopefully it will work out, when we were about to depart we shook hands. He told me that he liked the strength in my handshake and it told him that I was sincere. I told him that my dad told me along time ago that if you shake a womanā€™s hand pretend that itā€™s your mothers hand. If you shake a manā€™s hand, shake it like heā€™s your best friend. !!!!

As some of you might know, I usually Skype with my Mom everyday. If not we talk on the phone for sure everyday.
She's 94 and lives in an assisted living home back in Texas. She's in constant pain and frequently tells me how bad the food was for dinner that night.
For the most part she tries to remain positive and we both really look forward to our chats every night.
We usually only talk for 5 to 15 mins. depending on how she's feelin. Sometimes we make it for up to 30min.
Just the other night we talked for 50 min. I finally had to tell her that I was goin to have to get off soon cause we were fixin to eat dinner.
She was cheerful enough and understood but I still felt bad. We said bye and we would talk again tomorrow.
I felt kinda bad that I had to end the talk cause she just really felt like talkin a lot that evenin. I always try to continue to talk for as long, or short, as she wants to.
The reason I'm makin this post is to say I hope that any of you that still have elderly parents, or relatives for that matter, try to call or Skype with them from time to time. It is something that really means a lot to them and it only costs us just a little bit of time out of our day.
Don't know why, but I thought I would try to take a pic of her on the computer screen. It didn't turn out too bad.
I know, just some pic of some old lady to y'all but I wanted to share her with y'all anyway.
She probly doesn't have a lot of years left but I hope I will ALWAYS continue to make the time to Skype or talk to her EVERYDAY for the rest of her life, and talk for as long as she wants to. It truly means the world to her.
Y'all don't miss the chance to talk with your loved ones. You never know when that opportunity will be gone. Saw1.

Got a one day break in the weather and seas so we took advantage of it. Went to the same spot again and had the first string of pots all set at 8:30 during slack tide. Began pulling them at 9:15 and the first three pots were blanks, bait hardly touched, but we reset them anyway. At the 4th pot of seven we started to see signs of life, and by the end of the string we had 6 keepers all from the back 1/2 of the string. Went back to the beginning of the string and started pulling them again, blanks, so we then took the first 4 and leaped frogged them past and set them at the end of the string. By the time we got to the original end of the string of pots we had 14 keepers and then started to stack the pots. When we had all the pots pulled and stacked we had 28 crab we culled down to 20 keepers ranging from 6ā€ to 7ā€ in size. The crab seem to be moving north, or up the coast from the Gate.

Since it was about noon and the conditions were calm on all accounts, we headed to Duxbury and try our luck Rock fish and Ling Cod fishing, that way weā€™d have carcasses for our next crab outing as we were out of fish carcasses. The strategy paid off with 3 keeper Ling Cods and 3 keeper rock fish. Got back to the dock at 3:00 pm, fish and crab cleaned, drove home, showered, cooked and vacuumed packed the days catch, dinner on the couch at 7:30ā€¦ā€¦. Long day and my a$$ is dragging, worth it!!

Looking like the next opportunity wont be until Tuesday if the sea conditions will allow it!

Setting up to launch a boat you get a routine going, straps off, winch hook off, transom saver off the motor, and put in the plug.

Another person doing some of the things can distract and take you off of your game, as you are doing one thing and have to help with another like releasing straps or whatever it takes you away from what you are doing. It's no problem if a person is doing things in the steps called out, but the jumping in is different. My friend was at the back and put the plug in. Mine is a plastic thing that has the attachment that keeps the plug there but hanging loose. It's set up so that if you unscrew it a little but it starts draining water, the more you back it out the more water comes out, I usually take it all the way out and let it hang, and put it in when launching the boat, usually see it and do that as I take the transom saver off because it's right there a couple of inches away to where it hangs down on the bar.

My friend did the plug but not the engine bar because he didn't know where the lift button was.

So we are out and had just started trolling, when I notice a couple inches of water at the back of the boat above the floor, I said WTF, the plug must not be in, he says nothing. I turned the bilge pump on and it was pumping a strong solid jet out the side, we accelerated to help drain the boat, but it did not want to plane it had so much water so we ran for awhile and then accelerated to a plane and ran it like that for awhile. Ten minutes later the bilge pump was still pumping water, but the boat was riding higher so we shut it down, I took off my coat and lay down at the back and reached down to the plug, which was a long reach.

The plug was in, but I was able to turn it tighter (barely as it was very hard), and thought that would do it. As we were done for the day I turned the bilge pump on and was surprised to see a strong jet of water coming out, I ran it in the no wake zone until we got to the ramp. When we got the boat out I checked the plug and went to take it out and it was cross threaded, we had to use pliers to remove it. I am really really careful with plastic threaded things, my friend on the other hand never saw threads he couldn't screw up (yes, pun was intended).

I haven't looked at it to see whether I can set the threads correctly, usually you can, but I'll look into a backup plug and an extra just in case the one comes off when it's hanging. At this point I'll probably just use it in the partially out mode so it's always started correctly.

He didn't cop to it and there is no point in saying anything, he'd deny he did it and there is no point in going there.
