Good catching Matt! Ryan said you had the whole place to yourself, at least early on. And you managed to avoid stripey, which is always good!πŸŽ£πŸ‘

Thanks DCGravity! Have a great one!

Bite was real slow and soft today but we caught fish. Rhino, Mat, and me only one each but Andy was king he caught 6. Lots of hits but couldn't hook them.
Really enjoy fishing with Rhino and Mat but a word to the wise, the most safe place to fish with Rhino is behind him. Thanks for a fun day guys and thanks for taking us Andy.

Thank you Andy for having me! It was so good to finally meet you! Dave it was good to meet you, and to be able to share some time fishing with both of you is something I look forward to doing again! I consider you both my good friends! Good luck and be safe!!

Beautiful morning at the ramp, @7:15 am , 70Β°air, and 78Β°water temperatures. My first surprise was NO Bass in any of the 3 trees in the creek coming from the ramp. Nothing but panfish nibbling on the worms. Never saw that before. Tried the big cove and all 3 islands, same thing! Where are all the fish??? Finally around 11:00 am I hooked a dink Smallmouth off a main lake point. Tried 2 more coves but just found more Gills. Ate lunch and the wind started picking up a little so I decided to backtrack my spots and call it a day.
When I got to the first island I got slammed casting a Watermelon Red flake Dinger off a wooden seawall. The fish pulled 15yds of drag in seconds, and then it froze - snagged! I backed the boat into the homemade seawall (pallets) and followed my line into the slats. I couldn't free it with my net handle, but then I felt a wiggle on the line, the fish was still there! After about 10 minutes of slacking and tightening the line, she swam out, FOR A MINUTE but swam right back between the slats! After another 10 minutes of fooling around she came out again. I slammed the trolling motor into hi gear and towed her into open water. She pulled drag a couple more times before I got her into the net, and then I exhaled. 4lbs 5ozs of adrenalin, and the hook was falling out of her mouth. After resuscitation she swam off and I headed for the creek. Still no occupants in the trees, so I called it a day.

Well guys, Brad and I went to the Petaluma river today instead of the Napa. Got on the water bout 0745 and stopped at the first place bout 0755. By 0800 we had caught 4 fish but none were keepers.
Went down to the second spot and caught 5 more and it's not even 0830.
After that we started trollin and we were hookin up every few min. We caught bout 6 more fish and now it a little after 0900 with 2 keepers on the stringer.
We continue to fish and bout 1000 we've caught 3 more, one was a keeper.
We've boated 18 fish and we are headed back upriver to start another pass trollin when Brad says, "You got a line out?"
I said NO. Looked down at my reel and there was NO line on the reel.
What must have happened was when Brad took off my lure must have been hagin down far enough for it to catch the water out the back of the boat. What he heard was when all the line stripped off the reel it broke the line and that's what he heard.
MAN, I had 1000 feet of 30# braid on that reel. OH WELL.
We get back to where we want to start our troll and Brad puts in and before I even get a lure out to tie on another rod he hooks up. #19 , another short. He lets line out again and just as I get a lure tied on he hooks another. This time it's our 4 keeper and it's bout 1020.
We put it on the stringer and bleed them and continue on down river a little ways to where we figured my line and lure might be.
5 min later I hook up with my line and we get to the end of the line that broke off. We retie it on my reel and reel in 1000 feet of line and the lure is still there. It just now 1030 am and we've been on the river 2 1/2 hours and caught 20 fish, 4 keepers. and we're done for the day.
Man was I BUMMED when I lost all that line and my lure. However we didn't get upset and cuss and all, it is what it is.
Then we tried to see if we could recover it. Thank the Lord we were able to do it.
What a GREAT morning on the river. Lots of work but such a fine day. AND off the water and home before it got too HOT. Suppose to be 100*+ today.
Headed out to Tomales Bay on Monday Halibut fishin.
The fish were 18 1/2, 19, 20 and 21 inches. Nothin real big or pic worthy but great eatin.
Maybe Monday I'll have some pics of Halibut.
If not, Ben and I will be out fishin again on Tuesday. Just might have to go back to the Pet.
